Whirlpool Fridge Freezer not working fridge is

Is it your ice maker, or possible the blades that crush the ice or dispense the cubes? What can happen in the latter case is that during the storm the ice melted and pooled in the cutter mechanism. Then, when power was restored, the blades were frozen solid. To fix, investigate taking out the cutter mechanism and letting it thaw and drain. Then reinstall and use frequently for the first few days to prevent refereezimg.

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

I had a similar problem also after a power outage, I called best buy for service and 200 bucks later it was a no go, same problem. I found a repair manual on the online auction place E b a y and was able to troubleshoot down to a faulty relay on the PCB, look there for the manual it may help you. I is not the compressor cause then the freezer would not work also.

Be very careful, when the ice maker malfunctions, many things can be the culprit. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Frost is due to outside air leaking into unit. Check on back wall to see if hole for ice maker fill tube is still plugged. If not and you have no ice maker cover hole with tape. Also look for water or ice build up in bottom of freezer or ref. sections. May have a plugged drain. Let me know what you find.

you could find ice behind the back panel - worth a check. however the problem is probably ice in the return vent from fridge to freezer and the only way to cure is to switch off and leave for a day with doors open. if im right and you try this, if it re-occurs you may have a problem with the defrost system
