D-link DGL-3420 wont work with Xbox 360 and Airport Extreme
I bought a D-Link DGL-3420 wireless gaming adapter for use with my xbox 360 to connect to my home wireless network. Since this adapter is supposedly plug 'n play, i connected it to my xbox straight out of the box via ethernet, like it says in the quick start guide. on my xbox 360, i went into network settings and selelcted my wireless network from the list of possible networks, entered the WPA code, and began to test the connection. the network adapter test recognized my adapter, but the wireless connection test said i was not connected. when i go to edit my wireless settings, it shows the name of my network and "connected" in bold next to it, along with the signal strength (4 out of 4 bars).
please help, this has been driving me to wit's end for the past few days.
NOTE: my wireless router is an Apple AirPort Extreme with gigabit ethernet

It is not possible to use generic usb wireless adapters with the Xbox or Xbox 360 game console. By John AndersonJun 20, 2012 The post John Anderson is correct that this would not work with a XBOX device. These are intended for and installed on computers (laptop or desktop) with which you would need to install drivers for it on. There is supported drivers that will allow the installation of this device into either a XBOX or PlayStation gaming console. I have also heard that wireless gaming can have lesser results. But if you want to do Xbox Live wireless, you will have to have a router and Microsoft's XBOX wifi adapter shown in the link above.
To connect to Xbox live, your best bet is to (if you dont have one) get a router, connect it to your Internet modem, and plug it into the xbox 360 using an ethernet cable.
xbox 360 wireless adapters are usally the worst to get. i suggest buying a long enough ethernet cord and using that, a 50m ethernet cord is around about $25. so pretty cheap.
It only works with the microsoft adapter nothing else. You'll have to buy the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter from microsoft and it cost around $100 bucks. It suxks that microsoft charge for this thing, it should come free with the machine
Console-to-Console Connection: Wireless
Some Xbox games offer console-to-console, or system-link, play, in which two or more players (depending on the game) can wirelessly network their consoles for multiplayer use.
Console-to-console wireless networks are also known as ad-hoc networks. In ad-hoc networks, a wireless adapter on one device connects directly to a wireless adapter on another device. An Internet connection isn't shared with this type of network, and the console-to-console connection is typically temporary.
For console-to-console play, you need:
Two Xbox 360 consoles.
Two Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapters.
An Xbox 360 game that supports system link play.
To wirelessly connect your console to another console:
Attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of each console as described in Use Your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter.
On each console, go to the System area to enter your network settings. (They will be the same for each console.)
If all settings are correct, exit the System area. The consoles should now be wirelessly connected to each other.
