Sound problem with recorded video.

Video and sound is fine while watching live. But recorded video, the sound is like I have a tape player recording the sound. It's high pitched and just sounds weird. It is a SAA7130 tv tuner card. Sound comes from tv card to line in on computer.

I added all the volume controls to the window and turned all of them all the way up, also put them in the middle. New recorded video still sounds like it's set to hall or concert. But it isn't.

The bundled software is Honestech TVR. I'm not real impressed with it anyway. It will not act as my desktop, and if I record in anyother format other that mpeg2 it will time shift error. In the properties under recording there's no audio options. And the bitrate I turned all the way up to 8000mbph. I wish I could send a screen shot of this thing. It's kind of a joke for a program.

Mpeg 4 is for streaming video for the internet. It does the same thing if I record in DVD-NTSC, some reason It will error when I try to record in AVI.

Check your sound properties. It is probably defaulted to a low setting. Try raising the setting to one that says DVD quality and see if that fixes your problem. Hope this helps.

Not the volume controls. Under properties for your recording device there should be a setting like 16 bit 32000hz DVD quality & such. Find the one that sounds best to you and use that setting to record.

mpeg 2 is the problem. Most digital TV is transmitting in the mpeg 4 format. If you record to hdd it's possible to convert to mpeg 4 if you have the software to do it. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

If you can record in the source format you can convert it later to avi using software like nero or roxio. This may solve the problem, or it could be that a low end TV tuner card was installed in your computer by manufacturer & nothing would help the card.

Possibly dirty or dead video recording head. If cleaning wont help then most likely repair is not cost effective. Save your video tape collection to digital format before unit expires.

Slow playback after recording.

Quality is definitely a factor here. Set tape speed to SP. Standard Play. It uses the most tape, and use a newer tape if possible.

You can also try converting to a newer format like MP4. This is the new standard for web videos. Older codecs might be an issue.

My JVC DR-MV150B plays prerecorded VHS tapes fine.

Try opening the front hatch of the tape by pressing the small, square button on the right or left (short) side of the tape. Check the black tape inside for any marks, dirt, scratches, tears, etc. If the tape is fine then your unit needs to be cleaned with a tape cleaner available at any electronics specialty or retail store. Good luck to you!

Sony 8mm camcorder will record sound but no video

Since it is playing the tape, the play head is ok. Now recording is done by recording heads so you may have a clogged heads or damaged recording heads. Try to clean the heads with head cleaning tape to see if it would help. 1. remove the tape and leave the door open. 2. using a canned air, blow out any dusts in the tape area. 3. run head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds and no more. 4. try the recording.. If this does not resolve, you may have a damaged or heavy clogged video heads. Take it to nearest video technician for a diagnostic. -James

Go video VR4940 VCR video recording has sound but no picture

You can try cleaning the video tape heads. The vcr has 2 different heads. One for audio which is fixed and a drum head for video with 2 heads on it that rotate. The best way to clean them is to take a lint free cloth ad wrap it tightly around your finger. Put some alcohol on the cloth and place it on the drum. Then rotate the drum as you hold your finger against the drum. DO NOT move your finger up and down as you can brake the head off. The other option is to go buy a head cleaning stick. It's a piece of chamie on a plastic tongue depressor. I've cleaned hundreds of them with my finger though. You can clean the whole tape path with the rag. Good Luck.

Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video
