Stops I had my iRobot Roomba 530 in storage for 8 months. I didn't remove the battery. When I plugged it in to recharge it, it did recharge after several resets but it would not dock itself once it had finished. It kept trying but I had to turn it off and manually dock it but it now won't recharge at all. It is totally dead. What is the problem.

I had the same problem when I renovated my kitchen. With boxes of stuff everywhere it was impossible to use Roomba. When I tried to use it again a few months later, it would stop after only a few minutes work. I had to buy a new battery which cost in excess of $100. Its better to loan it to a friend to be used than to put it into storage.

SOURCE: iRobot Roomba Dirt Dog sounds weak and stops

Generally the unit will beep or play the "uh-oh" tone or do something. I wish I could tell you what's going on with this Dirt Dog, but it's not communicating the problem. The best thing to do would be to give us a call when you have the robot with you. That will enable us to do any necessary troubleshooting as well as set up any orders that might be necessary. SOURCE: iRobot 530 charges intermittently

Reset the Roomba: hold down "spot" and "dock/demo" for fifteen seconds, then release and listen for the tune. Then charge the Roomba overnight. The next time you run it, the unit should run longer. If not, call support and let them know you may have a battery problem. 1-877-855-8593 (I strongly encourage you to have the Roomba with you if you call.)

I have a 4.5 year old IRobot Roomba 530 Robotic Vacuum. Appears to be fully charged but then only runs for about 30 seconds before stopping. What may be the problem?

You need a new battery - they don't hold their charge after a while. There is a lot of advice on line about how to try to make the battery last longer but 4.5 years is actually pretty good.

I noticed my run time was getting shorter and shorter, within the first 6 months. I checked my charger and base with a V.O.M. okay. About 4.4 volts on the base about 14 volts on the direct line. I bought...

To extend Roomba's battery life and keep Roomba cleaning at peak performance: • Always keep Roomba plugged in when not in use. • Recharge Roomba as soon as possible. Waiting several days to recharge Roomba can damage the battery. • For storage off the charger, remove the battery from Roomba and store in a cool, dry place. • Blue or black batteries should be stored after Roomba has been used. • Yellow batteries should be stored after being fully charged.
16-Hour Refresh Charge If Roomba has been left off the charger for an extended period, Roomba will initiate a special 16-hour charge cycle. This extensive charge refreshes Roomba's battery and extends the battery life. While charging, Roomba's "Clean" button will pulse quickly. Note: For best results, do not interrupt this Refresh Charge.

Sounds like you didn't remove the batteries protective tape. If this isn't a new roomba, your problem may be the charging cycle. For a brief video of what to do click the link below.
