The 49 error codes on HP LaserJet printers are communication error codes. They can be hard to troubleshoot as quite a few culprits cause 49 errors.
Missing: P4014. ‎' Must include: P4014.

If this continually displays then either you have an actual paper jam in the printer that you have not found yet or a flag is broken/sensor has failed. Make sure you check the paper path that runs from the tray behind the MP tray assembly.There is a sensor in there that can be damaged.

Hi John!

• Cancel all printing jobs queue for the printer.
• Shut it off for 3 minutes.
• Reboot the PC.
• Power up the printer and try to print a simple document

Please follow the steps posted below:
1. Remove the paper from the MP tray
2. Remove any jammed paper from in and
around the MP tray
3. Close the MP tray. Then open the front
cover and close it to reset the machine.
4. Open the MP tray again
5. Fan the paper stack, and then put it back
in the MP tray
6. When loading paper in the MP tray,
make sure that the paper stays under
the maximum paper height guides on
both sides of the tray

Jamming where? Is paper crumpled up in printer or does printer just stop. Likely the rollers in tray 2 are worn. Try printing from the MP tray, if that works then printer is ok and it will be the feed/sep rollers in tray 2. It is also very important on this model to ensure that you have current firmware installed as older versions of firmware have a bug that will wreck the fuser.

The 50.3 is a fuser Temperature error. If your pages have toner and image but are smudging or smearing you know the fuser is not heating and needs to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty contact HP Customer Care for warranty replacement of fuser part numbers: RM1-1082 for 110 volt, RM1-1083 for 220 volt. (888) 999-4747.

If your printer is out of warranty, suggest you purchase a maintenance kit part # CB388A HP maintenance kit for LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515, includes other needed high wear parts.

Your best method of troubleshooting is the manual sensor test as this is a generic paper jam error.

on your sensor tests:

0 = off
1 = on

A = TOP OF PAGE SENSOR
B = PAPER LOOP SENSOR
C = N/A
D = FUSER PAPER SENSOR
E = DELIVERY-TRAY PAPER-FULL SENSOR
F = FUSER PRESSURE-RELEASE SENSOR
G = MEDIA SENSOR
H = N/A
I = MP TRAY SENSOR
J = CASSETTE SENSOR
K = DOOR OPEN DETECTION SWITCH
L = DEVELOPING ESTRANGEMENT SENSOR - CLR
M = DEVELOPING ESTRANGEMENT SENSOR - BLK
N = MP TRAY MEDIA POSITION SENSOR


A-F are paper path sensors - you can toggle them and watch if they change from 0 to 1. If they do, the problem is not in that area.

G can have states from 0-7 each one representing a different type of paper - shouldn't have anything to do with jamming.

hope this helps. probably a tiny piece of paper or toner somewhere. could also be a torsion spring out of position on a flag.

check the bypass transport connector for a small piece of paper. or the paper sensor arm is jammed down there are 2 one in the transport unit and one in the mp tray
