Connecting laptop to lcd

I am trying to connect my laptop to the lcd tv through the RGB PC connection but it said invalid format. i am using a monitor cable. Sometimes i get the wallpaper up on the tv but that is it. I have adjusted the resolution on the tv and laptop but is still not working. your help will be appreciated. We are using a monitor cable to hook up our laptops to our new LG tv. My husband's Dell laptop works fine, but hooking up my Mac Powerbook just results in an "invalid format" message playing on the tv. My Mac recognizes the TV, but not vice versa.

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).

Trying to hook my home PC into my LG TV gets me the message Invalid Format, what can I do to get the signal or can i use this tv for my monitor with a dell PC

Connect VGA (D-sub 15 pin) cable from PC to TV (RGB PC) input jack. Connect audio cable from PC to TV. Set screen resolution on PC to be compatible with TV, such as 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768 etc. Select on the TV, the PC INPUT using the TV remote when ready to use as monitor.

Under PICTURE on the TV select SCREEN (RGB-PC). You can AUTO-CONFIG or you can set resolution manually to the same you set PC to. Other adjustments can be done here as well to get optimum picture on TV from PC.

I hook up my pc to lg lcd it always says invalid format any solution

What cable connection are you using? What resolution was the computer sending to the video graphics adapter before you connected the two?

The TV can only support
VGA Resolution: 720x400, 1360x768, 640x350, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768 or 1366x768
HDMI to DVI: 640x350, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768 or 1366x768

For best results you should use 1360x768.

Try resetting this when the Input is set to that for the computer. Press Menu and select Picture. Press Enter and select Screen (RGB-PC) (use the Up/Down arrows). Press Enter and select Resolution. Then press Enter and select the desired resolution. Then press Enter again.

If you like there is a Auot-config option in the Screen menu, that may set the TV properly.

If the above doesn't help, use another monitor and check the output resolution and then reconnect to the TV.

I hope this helps.

Also flash the bios of the computer by download int the file from the above website.
and also try to change the resolution by connecting to a monitor and try connecting to the TV ..

"Invalid Format" message

Hello,

This should help you. I think Chris Duckworth said it best. "sounds to me like your refresh rates or resolution may be set too high on the XP machine."

Go to this website to get the rest about setting up your tv as a monitor. Type invalid in the word search to get to the relevant section.

RGBPC input showing invalid format after move

There is nothing wrong with the connection, your TV or computer. Just changw the resolution settings under the display properties. Start with the lowest setting 800X600 and move your way up. It will eventually appear.

LG 37LC7D Connect to VGA from a PC

Your right. I just had the same "Invalid Input" issue as well and it completely relates to the resolution compatability with any VGA or HDMI connection. Check the LG website for the online manual if you don't have it and see the section on RGB-PC cable. There is a table that incdicates the Resolutions the LG product is capable of displaying.

Thanks for the help.
