I purchased four of the RDR-VXD655 players and one of them reads "no disc" when a disc is inserted. I've tried turning it on for an hour in case there was moisture on the lense, but I get the same results. The other three units work just fine. My problem is: Sony doesn't have a service center in this area. It has to be shipped to a Chicago area service center. I just wanted to know if I'm missing something that I could do before I go thru all the trouble of shipping it off.

Insert a lens cleaning disc into it and let it play. If this do not help you, the optical pickup unit to your playder is faulty, and should be replaced.
