Flap on refrigerator door will not close

Check the flap on the door to see if it is closing all the way . Also it could be over filling the icemaker with water then running over which could be a water valve in the back of the fridge sticking open a little

check the ice door flap where ice drops into a glass.sometimes the flap doesn't close completely and allows heat to enter threw the flap.this causes frost to build and melt thus you have water you can't explain. hope this helps.

Have you checked that ice is not stuck in there? I have seen this happen especially when set to crushed ice. Otherwise please tell us what model fridge so we can look at one and consider what else may cause this.

One is the icemaker will leak on the auger motor and freeze it up as you describe. If this is the problem the ice will be very solid (hard ice). If this is the case check to see if the tube that feeds the icemaker water is clogged with ice and if so remove the ice and replace the water valve. If not the icemaker may be overflowing, which is still most likely due to a bad water valve.

The other thing that will cause this is an air leak. If it is an air leak the ice will be frosty more like snow than hard ice. But even so it will still cause the auger not to work. If this is the case check the little flap that opens and closes to let ice through the door to see if it is closing properly. Then check the door gasket to see if it is sealing properly.

Turning the temp. down shouldn't help nor hurt your problem.

how do you take the front cover off of the icemaker on the door to get the flap on the door to close

there is a solenoid in the door assbly. it may just be corroded but may require replacement.

It may be more serious, but first check for ice around the sides of the ice delivery chute. Indeed it could be the solenoid.

the acutator that controls flap may be faulty or is not getting power.

ran into an LG tech today with identical problem and was told to replace a solenoid that closes the door flap.
