I have a Satellite A135-S2356 that had the same problem. I tried the solution from PCTServices above and it worked great.

"Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back mylar from JOPEN1 solder pad. Short JOPEN1 solder pads for 30 seconds. Replace mylar. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit. If all is well, replace memory cover and screw."
Just short the two little solder pads and it worked great! I thought I would have to send it back to the manufacture but I am back in buisness. Thanks for the help.

The mylar is the nylon that covers the motherboard, the JOPEN1 is in one of the corners, use a magnifier for better results.

There are a few ways that I can find through research... Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back mylar from JOPEN1 solder pad. Short JOPEN1 solder pads for 30 seconds. Replace mylar. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit. If all is well, replace memory cover and screw. You can also simply take the unit apart and remove the cmos battery from the motherboard. The battery may be soldered on, you'll have to carefully remove it with a flathead screwdriver. You will not have to solder it back to the motherboard. This is a common glitch with toshiba laptops. You may want to contact them with your issue to see if they can tell you anything other than these two options.

The Toshiba support site now admits the problem where the computer starts insisting on a BIOS password during power up, even though you never set any such pw. The Document ID is 98082321. Go to Toshiba support site, enter your model # and choose "Support Bulletins". It links to the BIOS patch you can download (if your computer is currently ok). If your laptop is currently insisting on the bios pw, Toshiba offers no DIY fix, but says they will fix it for free if you get the laptop to one of their support centers...

Must take the laptop to a Certified Toshiba Repair facility. They can zap it. Covered under warranty. This is a common problem with this model. I had the problem with mine and the above is the only thing I was qualified to try. Works fine now. When fixed, download the new BIOS from the Toshiba website.

The solution posted here does work. It also worked for an a135-s2286. And don't unplug any chips under the wireless card. It might work but is unnecessary.
Some have asked What is "short, solder pads, mylar,..." of course I encourage a google search for jargon terms you don't understand. But to help progress.... sort - put metal (screwdriver) / wire (paper clip) between two electrical contacts (metal surfaces) solder pads - small silver metal surfaces that can be easily touched or a person can 'solder' (conductive metal glue for electrical stuff) to. mylar - heavy plastic, in this case it is clear and non conductive. It is used to protect the electrical computer board from people installing or working with the RAM. JOPEN1 - this is actually typed or printed on the green plastic board in the lower left corner of the RAM compartment. locate the RAM compartment - (on mine) power off the laptop and close the screen. Flip over the laptop so the front latch to open the screen is still facing you. The RAM cover is in the middle left to right and toward the back front to back. It is about 2" x 3". To remove the RAM spread the silver clips on each end and the RAM should pop-up at about 45 degree angle. DO NOT TOUCH THE CHIPS OR GOLD EDGE. (Okay, don't be too scared it isn't that fragile, but be careful or else you will shock (static electricity) and break it.) Handle the RAM only by the back two corners. Place it on the plastic RAM cover for temporary storage. Whatever you do, DO NOT put it in a Ziplock bag.
Happy fixing. David

Got to the cmos battery. Tried removing it from the motherboard to no avail. Didn't want to damage my friend's laptop. Ended up sorting the positive and negative, which sucessfully removed the password.

When i turn it on a blue screen pops up with a box that says enter password i dont know what the password is? Please help

This is the BIOS password. The only ones that can remove the password are the techs from the dealer - all the Toshiba laptops are designed this way. You will have to take it to a dealer.

what you need to do is pull both the laptop battery as well as the cmos battery. in some instances, the battery can be pulled, but on other models, i have seen the battery as an actual physical part on the motherboard or somewhere where it is not easily accessible, in which case you need to clear the cmos by using a jumper on the motherboard, since it is a laptop, they are all different. you may need to see if you can locate a copy of the motherboards schematics and go from there.
