Laserjet 4 printer will not print

I connected Laserjet 4 printer to my HP computer Windows XP with an Ethernet cable and it won't print.

The LJ 4 driver installed just fine.

did you check the IP address in the printer. Is the Printer connected to the router? It cannot be connected to the computer via ethernet.

You need to go through a hub or use a crossover cable.

A centronics /parralel cable would be a lot easier.

Can't print on Network LaserJet Printer

If it worked before you updated the driver, go into the Device Manager and roll back the driver to the previous version. Sometimes new drivers haven't been fully tested, or they may contain bugs or may just be incompatible with an application that you happen to be running. If the old driver version works, stick with that.

Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

HP Laser 4L driver for USB port

Not all USB adapters are the same, you need the one that is made for your printer, I would try a different adapter before going too deep, because when you plug it in your computer should see it even without drivers.

Can't print to old applications

The issue your having is with the Operating system compatability. The HP 3055 is compatible with 98, ME, XP, Window 2000 and forward. It won't do windows 3.1 or 95 well even if your computer will, the disconnect comes when the software is sending old print commands to a new style print driver.

Your best hope is to download and install the HP Printdriver for Windows 98 and try it as it's the most tolerant of old gear. Download the PCL 5 as the PCL6 is too new and probably not going to work.

As an alternate try to download each of the printdrivers for the differnt era windows and try them. It's a hard problem that may not have a solution other than upgrading the accounting software.

If it's simply a connection problem, they do make a USB to Parallel addaptor which may help you with the physical connection issue.

Continues printing pages

sound like u have setting problem with either the program your printing from or the driver. It could be set to print 2 copies of print job. If your using windows XP there a printer driver in there for the printer. If your using an older version of windows you can used HP laserjet II driver. HP always made there printers to be able to print with LJ II driver.
