Wm1814cw LG front load washer won't engage drain pump

Washer will not drain:

The drain water pump is the main part in your washing machine that pumps out the water. If this is defective or has failed in any way, this will be the reason why your washer will not drain the water. Before you order a new drain pump, make sure to check the pump to be sure a small object like clothing or similar has not lodged itself inside of it causing the NO DRAIN issue and even a no spin issue?. If the drain pump is not clogged, you can test it with a multimeter and remove and replace if needed.

The washing machine drain hose is where the water flows through to get the water out. If this drain hose is blocked, kinked, bent, or clogged, the washer will NOT be able to remove the water from the tub. Check the drain hose to be sure it allows the water to flow freely. You can take the drain hose off and run water through it in your sink to be sure it is not blocked. If there is water STILL in the washer when you remove the drain hose, grab a bucket as the water will exit from where you disconnected it

The water pump belt (to drain out the water) may have broke or become frayed or loose. If this belt breaks then it is unable to drain and remove the water from your washer. Inspect the belt to see if this is causing the NO DRAIN issue and remove and replace if needed.

If the lid switch is not working as required it will cause your washer to not drain (and many other problems). This may be unlikely as a bad lid switch will usually cause your washer to also not agitate or spin. However on some models this can vary. The best thing to do if you have a suspected bad lid switch is to test it. It can fail electrically and or mechanically. If mechanical failure is the issue, you should be able to see if it is cracked, broken, or not in place to make contact with the lid. To test it electrically, use a multimeter set on Ohms and test it for continuity

Ecosmart washer won't drain it filled with water, washed and nowwon't drain the water.

you need to vacume out all the water so you make it light, then dolly out the washer to some place you can drain it. now take off the front of the washer and locate your water pump, its attached to your drain line. take off drain line to water pump and see if anything is clogged in the pump. This is most likely what is wrong if it wont drain. hope this helps.

My whirlpool washer seems to be letting water back flow from the drain line.

sounds like the drain line is too low it needs to be higher than the water level when running a full load...you can check this buy filling with water and stoping the cycle and see where the water stops draining im sure it will stop at the level of your drain line in the back of the washer. the drain line in the back of your washer should come out of the bottom of the washer and then go up to a drain pipe..if its lower than the full water level of the washer then gravity will take over and drain the water... i hope this helps

It wont work it flashes fl

the Fl code indicates an overfill condition. If the washer is empty, then you likely have a problem with the water level pressure switch. If the washer is full of water and will not drain, you likely have a problem with the drain pump or the washer drain line.

If the washer is full of water, make sure that the washer drain is clear and working properly. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. If you find no problems with these issues, I recommend that you manually drain the washer using a wet/dry shop vacuum. Check the drain pump and connecting hoses for problems. You may need to replace the drain pump of water will drain out of the washer properly but the pump will not work properly. A clog in the check ball assembly at the bottom of the tub can also prevent the washer from draining properly.

Kept flashing f21. I hit stop. Now the door won't unlock.

You did not mention whether the washer actually pumps the water out of the washer when you are getting the F21 code. If the washer pumps the water out okay, then the pump and drain system are okay.

Excessive suds can prevent the pump from evacuating the water properly and will sometimes result in an F21. When the suds dissipate, the washer will then be able to pump out the water. Look for this type of condition if necessary.

If the drain pump runs but the washer will not drain the water, see if the washer will gravity drain. Pull the drain hose out of the stand pipe or sink and place it in a shallow pan at floor level. If the washer will gravity drain okay but will not drain when the drain pump is running then you will likely need to replace the drain pump.

If the washer will not gravity drain, then you still have a clog somewhere in the drain system. If you have not pulled the hose between the tub and the pump, then you could have a clog in this area.

If the washer does drain normally, then you could have a failed pressure switch, air pressure hose problem, wiring failure or a failed control board.

WATER IS DRAINING BACK INTO WASHER

Based on your description, I'd look closely at the drain hose (the big hose going out of the washer and into the wall between the water valves). If it's stuck too far into the hole there without an air gap, it'll siphon water back into your washer. To correct this, simply lift the drain hose out of the wall drain a few inches. This will allow the water to drain and NOT allow a vacuum to form. (a vacuum will "pull" water out of the drain pipe and back into the washer thereby filling it while not in use)
