DS Lite Top Screen Not Working

First off. The quickest way to fix the L and R butons is to blow into the sides of the buttons as hard as you can several times for both buttons. I know it sounds dumb, but dust collects in there and 90% of the time this is the problem.

Second, if the top screen is wobbly it's because either the hing has worn our or the case has cracked at the hing. Either way the DS will need to be repaired (taken apart) to fix this. Both instances will require new parts. Hope this helps.

Yes its fixable but it depends on what has broken.
There are two possibilities the small barrel hinge has broken, this is just a case of fitting a new one by opening the case, unscrew the light and gently pulling the top of the case away till you can change the barrel hinge.
The other one is the case has broken and is not holding the barrel hinge, can bodge it with some glue sometimes but most often you need a new case.

you should use a crystal casing because every time you open the ds the wires get messed up or put some thing on the hinge so the ds hinge will not get loose.

nono no dont my ds had the same problem it will work as long your extemely careful but if you drop and a hinge missing the top screen will break and it is unfixable i have tried

Hi, it sounds like when the hinge has got damaged, so has the top screen ribbon on the left as its easily ripped. Would need a replacement case and top screen, can recommend here for both: www.console-spares.co.uk, hope this helps.

There is a ribbon that connects the top screen of the ds to the motherboard. It is possible that this ribbon became damaged when the hinge broke. A possible fix would be to replace the upper screen. Hope this helps.

Top LCD's flex cable that passes through right-hand hinge into bottom part of case will be damaged or not properly seated in its connector socket.

The only way you can repair this properly is to replace the casing with a new one... the hinge is a common problem and over 90% of my customers on the DS and DS Lite need a new case due to broken hinges. Once the plastic bit has broken then it will only get worse. The small bit that you say fell out was the actual hinge itself (a small black part with a silver end that twists and locks your console into place when open). Hope that helps!
