How do I replace this item? I am a technician for 20 years but have no experience on this product! The transfer belt was torn and taken out of the machine when I arrived!
Quite straight forward, but obviously tricky the first time. Basically take off all the brackets on the top and on the outboard end of the belt assembly there is 2 more brackets screwed onto the side. Remove these (5 screws in total i think) and then release the tension roll (the one that pushes up on the left hand end if uyou have just took the right brackets off. The tension roll can be held in a non tension position while the belt is removed/replaced. Let me know how you get on or for further help

Pls what kind of damage? But from experience the gear just simply went bad and a simple replacement should solve the issue. You may need a service technician help you clean the cleaning compartment of the transfer belt of clogged toners that may have been the initial cause else the gear will go bad in a few runs
The Transfer Belt error is because it is not correctly installed or it is defective,if so it need replacing.
You can Pull out of the Drum Unit, open front door and take out the whole assembly
Then you can look on the Transfer Belt, You can pull it out,
CAUTION: it is difficult to get it back into position again if your not sure what your doing.
You can replace the belt for around $40/$60 for the item + technician fees
the vacuum must be completely torn apart to replace the belt/clutch assembly. be very careful as the parts will break easily
the assy you need runs around $60 or more at a vac repair shop
i have been in the repair business for 20 years, and the dyson is about the worst one out there
get yourself a Panasonic or a sanitair
The 917 fatal error
is a belt **** se sensor error. This could be caused by the belt not
installed correctly or the belt at the end of its life, or the belt
being torn. Please power the printer off and then reseat the transfer
belt and then power the printer back on. If the error remains then I
will need you to check the life remaining on the transfer belt. Also
make sure the transfer belt is not torn.
