Laptop locks up and re-starts at toshiba screen /chirping sound.

When laptop locks up it will not re-start normally. If it re-starts it stops at the toshiba header screen and emits a constant chirping noise similar to holding down a key until it locks and make error noise. Normally have to manually turn off laptop by holding down power button. Re-starting by rapidly pressing f8 to get to dos screen to start laptop again.

If you can get to the dos screen try selecting repair and either let windows attempt a repair or restore back to the factory settings.

It seems that your OS has registry problem.

- Start PC in safe mode, normally Pressing F8 key when windows starts up.( Google it)
- In Safe Mode create a new user, with administrator privileges and protect it with password.
- Remove unwanted software's & programs.
- Empty the Recycle Bin.
- Download reliable program RegInOut to fix OS registry properly.
- Restart your PC normally and log on to the new account created.

yes it's normal. The fan only needs to run when the laptop starts getting warm. It should start again when it warms up.

it sounds like it's possible that when you put the laptop back together, you may not have plugged the monitor, or some other vital component in all the way, or maybe didn't lock the plug in to the board. This is a common mistake that I have made when putting my own laptop back together.

It sounds like it's overheating, make sure the airways are clear of dust and listen for the sound of the fan inside, this could have failed..
if the processor overheats it automatically cuts out and what you describe is exactly that..

Why do i have an intermittent problem with my laptop freezing up during startup? startup?

You may have a bug. You may start by going to control panel and see how many programs are trying to start up at the same time. When my laptop does that I normally go to the control panel and stop programs and keep them from turning on at start up. you really dont need all programs to start up at the same time. This may cause freezing and longer times to start at start up.
