Bass speaker issues

My bass speaker (the big one) was working then all of a sudden it just stopped. You can still hear a little bit of bass in the little speakers if i turn up the volume on the big one but no sound comes out of the big one. i got a screw driver and opened it up but i dont knwo what to do to fix it.

Is this for a computer setup? If so, the sub(big speaker) should be attached to the system via a cable of some sort, most likely a cable with pins. Check these pins and make sure they are still lining up correclty, then check the port and make sure there are no obstructions in it. If both of those are fine and you have the speaker opened up, check for any loose wires or things like that. Also try and see if you smell an electrical burn-type smell. If you do, it may mean it's retirement time for this set-up. I had someone force my sub speaker connection once and they bent the pins. It took a decent while, but I got a tiny flathead screwdriver and some tweezers and fixed the location of the pins. The speaker worked marvelously after that.

Are you saying that the woofer (big one) is connected to the same speakers in the same unit? Or is the Woofer on it's own?
If it is connected, then one of two things has happened. First the coil or connection to the speaker has broken or gone. The connection can easily be fixed with solder.
If it is the coil, then what you need to do is isolate the speaker from the rest. Then get a 1.5 volt battery and connect one end to one of the speaker connections and then the other end of the battery to the other, but for only a short time. If the speaker is working then the cone should move and it should pop. If it doesn't do either the speaker coil or speaker has failed and my guess is you will need to buy a replacement. If it does pop then it's good.
Your next step is to look at the crossover unit that connects all the speakers. Again check the connection wires and make certain they are good. You will see some large Inductors and capacitor(s) these control the bass section. You could replace the capacitor, it's likely to be a none polarised one. But check the inductor over too. It could have a bad connection.

SOURCE: Compaq JBL Platinum Series speakers

Make sure that you got 12v 1.0 A adapter. Not .01 A. They have one at newegg.com atrix DVCPA1AA power adapter-12v 1.0 A. you should not need drivers for speakers. Make sure you got it pluged into right port if you got the adapter. Also make sure under control panel under sound that you got it setup for two speakers.

SOURCE: standard speakers to the computer , low volume

Connections without soldering it does not give proper conductance to the speakers and the integrated audio is good enough for headphones but to get good sound you need an amplifier to increase the output. Alternative is to add a good sound card like 'Aureal' or Yamaha or Creative plus so many available mow in the market and neither are they expensive...........sodeep

SOURCE: low volume with volume cranked up

Are the speakers battery-powered (with dead batteries?) or AC-powered (but not plugged-in) ?

Do the speakers work correctly when connected to some other desktop or laptop or iPod ?

I have a Planet Audio Big Bang 3000 Watt 1 ohm stable amp I was wondering if i could run 2 HIFONICS OLYMPUS 15's they are 2,400 Watts rms each 4,800 max each so would i overload my amp and im putting it in...

that should be fine, but with that much power you might want to invest in earplugs, the SPL or sound pressure level from those speakers could rip your ear drums out of your head, kick them around for awhile, spit on them and shove them back in through your nose.
**Disclaimer, I am not a medical doctor and do not claim to be, I am simply warning you about hearing loss as I have suffered from between 30 - 50% hearing loss because of loud bass. but seriously, if the speakers sound like """" turn it down a little bit. that system should work fine though.

Pulsing bass will juice you if you touch the wires

hahaha...sorry...I had to learn that the hard way too, some time ago. thats normal to get a little bit of a shock from an amplifier, if your colume is up a bit. thats real electricity running through your speaker wires. how bad the shock is depends on how high your volume is, and how big the amp is. good rule of thumb, always turn the volume on your stereo down before working on your amp.

Bass Problem

you may have a short in the wiring
you can always open up the bass box and look to see if the wiring is a little loose.
if you know how to use soldering you may be able to fix it.
if not you may be able to just tape it in place

Flutterin sound in tv

try turning the bass down and see if this helps the fluttering. If it does help a little most likely it is a blown speaker. Can replace at radioshack for under 20 dollars. It is hard for me to tell since i am not there to diagnose but also can you do a balace to go completely to the right with bass up and see how it sounds. now with bass up turn the balance to go to left speakers. if you hear fluttering from one side that means a speaker or speakers from the side that is fluttering need to be replaced. i hope this helps and good luck fixing this.
