Sounds like your battery is toast, buy a new one from nintendo, or ebay.

Did you attatchthe charge cord into the back of the Ds and attatch it to the wall? If you did and it didnt work, then I suggest getting it looked at, as this is usually the less expensive way of fixing it.

Make sure you check the compatibility of your
charger check the back and below the DS game
card slot you will see numbers with a point in the
middle equals in. For example if the label of your
charger says 5.2V and if the writing says 5.2V
that means its compatible.

Your charger is broken.
For example, if you have a 110v charger and use it on a 220v outlet, it will burn out.
You can get a new charger, or buy a Car Charger.
Car chargers work with both 110v and 220v, but you need a car :/

My DS Lite wont charge! Help!

Try another charger, yours may be faulty. Alternatively, the battery may need replacing as it is no longer holding charge, these can be obtained very inexpensively from Ebay and you will just need a small cross head screwdriver to remove the cover on the back of the DS lite, then tap the unit in your hand to dislodge and remove the battery.

My DS lite wouldnt switch on whilst i was on it so

It sounds like a faulty on off switch, when you turn it on it is not contacting fully, i had this problem with my grandsons ds lite, what i did was unscrew the ds, then looked to see if the push up and down on off switch was fully contacting when switching on, when i took the case off i could turn it on, i just made sure everything was in place and put the case back on, its ok now, i could be the on off switch had dislodged ater time, and just needed re locating, its nothing to do with getting a new battery.

When i try to power on my son's DS Lite, the red light is on, and both screens power on for about 2-3 seconds max and then the system shuts off. It also wont charge when connected to the wall.

You may need to get a replacement battery pack when the battery is below 30% the light will turn red, the battery requires 4 hours to charge, and when the battery is fully charged the amber colored light will turn off. If you still need to purchase a new battery contact nintendo cust serv at 800-255-3700 or you can order online at nintendo.com You will need a #00 philips screw driver to remove the battery cover, install the battery with the 2 tabs in first, close compartment and allow battery to fully charge before use. The average battery will last for about 500 charges. Hope this helps

It wont turn no matter how long i charge it

does the orange light flash of a few seconds after you plug it in? If it does, I think that it is a battery problem. After a lot of charges, the battery's capacity decreases. If the orange light just flashes, I would try a new battery http://www.nintendorepairshop.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=191&cat=Nintendo+DS+Lite+Batteries for ds lite battery or http://www.nintendorepairshop.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=188&cat=Nintendo+DS+Batteries for a ds battery (both $8)

Nintendo ds wont charge red light flashes and goes off

You can always buy a new charger for your DS, but if that doesn't work, buy new batteries. Ask your local gaming store for assistance, they can usually help you with whatever you need.
