Sirius XTR1 Receiver cycles on dog screen with beep - keyboard locked

My Sirius XTR1 is mounted in a XTR boom box. Suddenly about 15 days ago the Xtr1 goes as far as the Sirius initial display (dog screen) and 30 seconds later briefly blinks with a beep and then goes back to the dog screen. No text - menu's etc is displayed and the keyboard is locked. Is there a solution - other than replacing the unit as suggested by Sirius ? Elsewhere on the net I see that Sirius did a download to all units and some units locked up ? Your input - Sugestions - work around will be appreciated ...

Sirius XTR1 Receiver cycles on dog screen then goes black and then starts all over again. Sounds like a alot of folks have this same problem - class action suit? Any suggestions to correct this? thanks

Just started having the exact same problem this morning! Called XACT, and while I was waiting, I just left it on, and it fixed itself after about five minutes of the sirius screen/blank screen cycle. Then it worked fine until I turned it off again. It did this after every time I turned it off, but after it warms up, it works fine, just a pain to make it warm up first!

    same problem

My has same exact problem starting about 5 days ago, but mine won't ever stop cycling. It did the first time but not since. I've had unit almost exactly 3 years. Xact says they will replace unit for $40, just ship in old and remote control and they will return replacement unit. Sirius told me $75 transfer fee, which I said was lousy policy. Have filed written complaint, no response yet. Any way of repairing without having to transfer service? Or any one have better luck with waiving transfer fee? Service at India call center (sounded like) was not at all helpful...

I have the same problem. Sometimes it works after a few cycles and other times it just keeps cycling the dog screeen over and over. The $75 Sirius transfer fee is absolutely ridiculous. I thought Sirius was trying to keep existing customers - not scare them away. I will file my complaint with them also. If a solution to this problems comes up, please post. Thanks

Hi. Same problem here. XTR1 starts booting shows "dog" screen, then slightly beeps a few time and turns off, then the cycle repeats over and over. I've had this problem for a week now. Emailed Sirius, they said I needed to buy a new device for $100 because I've had mine for 4 years and it was no longer under warranty. Oh, Sirius did recommend resetting the device to factory setting by pressing "menu" button then selecting "factory restore" but I can't even get to the menu since the device never boots up. So, that sucks I guess:(

I am having the same exact issue with mine too. It is crazy and for no reason. Is Sirius still trying to charge a $75 transfer fee? I have 2 radios with them and if so I will just cancel this one and buy a new one. It will be cheaper after rebates. Anyone have any luck getting these POS working after this?

I've had mine for about 6 years, so it's probably time for a new one anyway. But yes, it would go so far as the dog screen and shut down and do it all over again. For hours it would do this. Almost like it's not receiving enough power?

Same problem. This just started happening last week. The unit is just over 3 years old. It comes on to the logo screen, stays on for 15 seconds or so then goes blank, beeps and comes back on to the logo and just keeps repeating this over and over.

Turn on radio goes to Sirius dog screen goes blank and beeps over and over. It's in a boom box and I never take it out.

Hello, I had the same problem with my xact xtr1 and I was advised by xact that they have no repair process in works and most likely wont. They did say let it run for 10 minutes and once you have a menu switch to factory defaults which proves to be a worthless fix. I would have to pay $39.95 for a new radio...horrible customer service. The bright side is that Sirius will not charge me the $75.00 transfer fee as a good faith gesture. I have decided to switch to another radio and leave the Xact brand out of the equation, if there is no upgrade or modification to the existing equipment why set yourself up for a future failure.

I had the same problem recently with my year old Sportster 4. I called Sirius and they sent me a refurb Starmate N/C except for $10 shipping. The radios are apparently not repairable. By the way, the suction mount that came with the Starmate broke the first time I mounted it, don't throw out your old mount!

Problem with Xact Communication XTR1 SIRIUS Radio Receiver

Turns out the radio isn't broken after all. In my research on your site I ran across a user who said he/she just plugged their radio in, turned it on and waited. I tried that and after a couple of minutes of a Sirius logo screen, then a blank screen followed by a high pitched beep the radio started playing again. I then remembered that one of the last things I input with the remote before the radio stopped working properly was mistakenly selecting an unwanted prompt on the AutoShutDown menu. When the radio finally came back on I selected Factory Default to reset all functions and now it operates properly. Thanks for the help.

Need to find a satellite receiver for my JVC-200 boom box

I have a JVC boom box and I use a Sirius Sratus radio on mine through the line input of the boom box. Probably sounds better than the Sirius boom box that plugs into it.

No antenna detected

More than likely, it is the antenna. Sad to say, but the Sirius antennas go bad very easily. Make sure there is no undue pressure on the antenna wire itself, as that can aide to premature failure. Bad antennas are the number one reason for the unit to read 'antenna not detected.' I have seen plenty of the antennas go bad and they were not misused one bit. If you contact Sirius, they're usually pretty good at understanding the misfortune of losing your paid service. Sometimes they'll ship you out a new antenna.

Sirius problem

I have the same problem, when I contact Xact (through e-mail) they said that the unit would have to be replaced. They didn't say that THEY would replace it, but said it had to be replaced.
