her's my problem, yesterday when i go in the basement i hearing some ''clik'' noise coming from my freezer. i open the covertop door to constat that is not colding anymore. this freezer as around 30 to 35 years of work and i'd never miss. as i say in problem description, the night before this, general electrical power (blackout) is occured 3 to 4 time. Is this fact can cause some damage to someting?
i know it is old for my freezer, so i consider to maybe buy another one, but as i know the new one dosen' last as long the old model!
i suspect a small control boxe near the control turnbutton where this sound should comming. could it be the source of misfounction? i hearing like ''clik on'' sound and after 3 to4 seconds ''clik off'' like sound, but compressor dosen't start.
thank for your help Eric (p.s: excuse my english but i am a french canadian and i use english very rarely !!)
Your relay to compressor is bad.you can replace relay or try a 3-n-1 hard to start to replace your relay overload and capacitor.very simple repair.call your nearest appliance store and give model # for your relay and overload or call and see about the hard to start.

Hi Ebony! Are you having issues with the unit turning on at all and staying on? Or do you not hear the unit turning on and running? If you hear no noise, to show the unit is running (compressor turning on), you would need to contact a professional at your earliest convenience. The compressor and sealed system are not turning on. If you hear the compressor running, but the unit is not cooling you have a coolant/sealed system concern. Please contact Frigidaire and a professional to repair the unit.
Behind the back panel you will find the freezer fan motor. unplug and take everything out. take the back panel off and find the fan. stick something in the blade like a bannana or whatever (no rags or paper towels though) just something to jam the blade (its plastic so dont break it) replug. remove whatever you put to jam the blade and if you hear the sound then you know for sure it is the fan. got to replace fan if you want the noise to stop
if it is not the fan let me know
hope this helped
hi thanks for the question the drain hose goes to the underneath by the compressor thaw out the freezer and clean the drain hose this will solve the problem thanks the appliance doc
The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.
sure its on ly 3 years old. you rseled system should be covered for 5 years (compreessor, freon, evap, condesor). was it making a buzzing noise?? trying to start and clicking right off??? thaose are sounds a bad compressor makes,
that because the internal fan is hiting the ice or has bad bushings you can hear the noise just with the door close because when you open the door there is a switch the one turns off the internal fan so when you close the door it turn on the fan again if you wants to hear that with the door open just open the door and push the botton swich with your fingers and you'll hear the noise
Sounds like the freezer evapurator fan... they make noise on and off at times when bears are wore... Thats about the only thing that can make noise inthe area ur talking about.. if noise comes back listen where the freezer fan is.. is most liklly the problem
