Put your turntable on another amplifier and see if it is the amplifier has gone bad, It may have a bad channel or phono board may need to be replaced. Also check your wires going into your receiver or amplifier and make sure the are not bad, Also check your speaker wire connections to see if they are connected tightly.

Scratching (static) noise coming from computer speakers

I foudn this in anther forum:
I have an ASUS motherboard P5E3 Premium. The audio that came with it was the Sound Max audio. I also noticed abnormal sounds coming from the speakers. They included sounds during hard drive activity and also with mouse movement. They were not loud but noticable. I searched all over the web but didn't find the answer. I stumbled across the fix myself. I also have vista-64. In the sound control panel > speaker properties > levels... there is a pc beep slide bar. I noticed that if it is disabled then the abnormal sound went away completely. Problem solved. Hope this helps.

External speakers

I would bypass the speakers from the projector and connect the audio output from the DVD to a sorround sound system or to computer speakers.

Sound not coming out of the rear or center speakers

Sort of confused a bit I understand you buying a new system you say the sound does not come out the rear and centre speakers does the sound come out of any spearkers other than the two you mention if it is then your wirings are wrong if the sound is not coming out of any speakers then its the sound card BUT you will know this immediately you disconnect that system. The sound would be coming out of the laptop ordinaryly? which is it?

Sound not coming from left side surround sound speaker or my right side front speaker

it is highly likely that you're TV is outputting mono sound, hence the left channel only. check your physical connections to the TV and the balance / channel volume on the television as well.
