Formatting the memory card is a easy process. You can format the memory card from the format option available in memory card option itself. You can also format the memory card using the desktop pc or laptop. Remove the memory card from the phone and connect the memory card in computer using the external memory card reader and format the memory card.

Hi, problem can solved.When a memory card says formatted operation failed,it means the memory has been affected with VIRUSin it,thats why it's not given you access to get into it.
What you will need to do is to format it.

You can use your phone to format the memory card by going to the option of the memory card and click on format memory card.
Also you can use a PC to format the memory card by using a memory card reader. insert the memory card inside the card reader and connect to your PC, click on my computer, you will seethe memory card icon displayed, right click on the mouse for options to come up, and click on format memory card and you done.

Note: When trying to format and it does not format the memory card, that means the VIRUS that affected the memory has damaged it totally, that means you will have to get a replacement memory card.

1. Remove your memory card from your camera.
2. Insert in to card slot of a computer or laptop. (Generally it reads SD,MMC,MS cards.)
3. Computer automatically opens a window and asks you what to do.( If it does not automatically opens then click my computer and choose your memory card and double click its icon)
4. Choose he folder to be opened.
5. See your card containings there.
6. Choose pictures to be taken and simply drag and drop to your desktop or where you want to carry
7. After that If you want to erase your memory card. Seect all in the folder of your memory card then press to delete button on computer. To delete all the card containings you may prefer to format your card.
8. Do not forget to put your card to its place. (In camera)

That is all.

If you do not have a notebook then use a card reader which is suitable for your memory card. USB memory card readers are sold eveywhere, specially at electronic stores.

1. select Memory Icon.
2. Press Options
3. Select Format Memory card
4. Thats all.. your memory card will be formatted and ready to use.

My Z740 won't format my memory card. When I turn it on - it says memory card needs formatted. I tell it to format - and it just repeats the Memory Card requires formatting message.

These instructions are from the Instruction Manual of the Coolpix S 210 and need to be carried out within the Set-Up Menu.

Refer Page 19:

Removing Memory Cards
Before removing memory cards, turn the camera off
and confirm that the power-on lamp is off. Open the
battery-chamber/memory card slot cover and press the
card in 1 to partially eject the card 2. The card can
then be removed by hand.
B Formatting Memory Cards
If the message at right is displayed, the memory card must be
formatted before use (A110). Note that formatting permanently
deletes all pictures and other data on the memory card. Be sure
to make copies of any pictures you wish to keep before formatting
the memory card.
Use the multi selector to choose Yes and press k. The
confirmation dialog will be displayed. To start formatting, choose
Format and press k.
• Do not turn the camera off or open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover until
formatting is complete.
• The first time you insert the memory cards used in other devices into the COOLPIX S210, be sure to
format them using this camera (A110).

Formatting the Internal Memory
To format the internal memory, remove the memory
card from the camera.
The Format memory option appears in the setup

there really is no absolute way to anti-virus a phone and they dont really have a anti-virus for phones so the only thing u can do is to reformat the card and get a new phone reformating the card can remove the virus.

Please try to format the memory card using a memory card reader on computer and then insert the card back in phone, it will say corrupted again, but now you try again to format it from phone and it should work now,,.....
