    Hi Biba,

Thnks a ton. My problem got resolved based on your suggestions.
I replaced my SMPS for testing purpose with new one which has higher Power output.
After that I burned 15 CDs with different brands including CDWRs and neither of them failed.

Thanks a TON!!!! I saved a lot of bucks on new drive price.

    Warm Regards
    Amod

PROBLEM DEFINITION: Basically, it is a hardware error that occurs when a drive is not capable of following a data track on a CD-R or CDRW or on the other hand, poor power flow may cause the problem SOLUTION: 1. Try use another disc, a disc with a different band. 2. If one doesn't work, you may have to open your system and use a different power connector, making sure no other devices are using the power connector in the same strand. 3. Lastly, if neither the above doesn't work, you may have to send your drive in for servicing as the head may be dirty or misaligned.

I have always been using Nero burn software with my LG GSA-2166D DVD RW. Now I bought Nero Multimedia Suite 10. No any writing process has been successful. I have since yesterday spoiled 10 DVD's....

speed of source data is too slow = the hard disk cannot deliver the data fast enough and the burning process stops; this is a sign of a severely fragmented file system and very charged background processes: defragment your hard disk, stop using other programs when burning a disk and use 8X as a recording speed.
Track Following Error = the laser head in the burner is no longer capable of following the track it has itself burned - the lens is dirty, clean it.

I've been all over the web lately looking to solve a burning issue I've been having. My computer was purchased around the beginning of 04. It's a HP windows Media Centre, xp, sp3. It's actually running...

hi frnd.. just update the firm ware of the drive by visiting the vendors or manufacturers website... after this try installing other Burners like NERO or BURNCD... if this also doesnt help go for a new drive.. take care..

Drive is not accessible. I/O Device Error

Method 1: Change the transfer mode for your CD drive in IDE Channel Properties
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager.
3. On the right side, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4. Right-click the channel where your CD drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.
5. On the Advanced Settings tab, in the Transfer Mode box for the device that represents your CD drive, click PIO Only. Typically, this device is Device 0. Then, click OK.

If the issue is not resolved after you change the transfer mode for the secondary IDE channel device 0, your CD drive may not be located there. Use the same procedure to change the transfer mode back to DMA if available. Then, repeat these steps to change the transfer mode for IDE devices in the following order until the issue is resolved:
• Primary IDE channel, device 1
• Secondary IDE channel, device 1
Note Primary IDE channel, device 0 is connected to your boot disk. This is the hard disk that typically contains your operating system.

OR

Make sure that all cables are connected correctly
If you have another cable, try to use it. For USB devices, try to use another USB port. If it is internal dirve is there then Reseat it that means remove it and reinstal that
Then Set the BIOS as Default for that restart the system and before windows screen it gives the instructions how to boot in setup once you are in setup, on the bottom it says press F9 or F10 to set as default; different BIOS have different options so do the as the on screen instructons says.

OR

Try to access the media or device on another computer; try it on your friend or family computer
if it is not working contact your H/W Vendor

Hi ,
Make sure you still have the software stored on your machine or on cd .
Please delete software and go to this site : http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/Toast/ET6000082&PARAMS=set-locale=en
Follow instructions to reinstall software .
If same issue remains , try to remember what changes you eventually made to your machine just before problem happened and delete the changes to see what happens .
You can also try to restore your system to an earlier date , provided this is possible with Apple .
Hope this helps .

CD dirve and DVR burner not working!!!

try a fresh install of windows, if this is the only cd/dvd drive and it's replacing the previous one look at the power requirement on the drives chances are they're gonna be the same but they might not be, so there is a chance that it's not the power supply, also check the jumper settings on the drive and make sure its set properly, do not use cable select, improper jumper settings and cable select can cause loss of functionallity in a device especially if its an ide/eide device, sometimes it will even cause the computer to not post or too post extremely slowly.
