Hey there! I am trying to import video (and accompanying audio) from a miniDV tape onto a casting software on my computer. The video goes through flawlessly, but the audio won't play. I've done it successfully before, so I know it can be done. But I feel like some setting got switched, and now it's not working. Anyone know which setting that might be? I've looked through the manual, but not finding anything... Thanks!!

A mechanical problem! The tension regulator belt is not well aligned, you need pro fix to do the alignment.

The DV Camcorder is equipped with a DV port which permits both downloading as well as uploading of video and still images (stored on the video tape only) to a computer using an IEEE-1394 (firewire) interface. Its possible that you have some problem in the head-record and need some cleaning job. No, if your original-master record isnt good quality video or sound are cut, no way to recovery.
