The hub is showing you that a network connection is present. The LED that says Col indicates when collisions occur. In a blatant attempt to avoid explaining how ethernet networks operate, suffice to say that no collisions is a good thing. Some collisions is tolerable and normal, and a lot of collisions indicates a problem and can bring your network to its knees. Don't forget to turn networking on in your xbox.

How to connect Xbox 360 to modem

Hi Nacee..
Hope your r good there!

Anyways...First thing you should do is turn off your computer, cable or DSL modem and XBOX 360. Then you should hook an Ethernet cable from the cable modem to the Ethernet port on the back of your XBOX 360. Then power up your cable mode and then power up your XBOX 360.

Have one ethernet for computer want to use xbox live so i take out the ethernet from computer and put it in xbox unplug wait plug back in turn still will not connect red x for modem

You should get a cable/dsl router/switch or wireless cable/dsl router/switch and put it between your Modem and network nodes (IE your computer and xbox 360)

So it is modem to router wan port

Xbox 360 to router lan port
Computer to router lan port

You can purchase one cheaply at best buy

Cant play xbox live

if you have any passwords on your internet make sure that those same setting and passwords are put into your xbox settings. It does not matter if it is wired or wireless the settings still need to be set to get any connection.

How To: USB hookup for computer while having ethernet hookup to Xbox 360.

USB to PC is fine, make sure you have the original installation disk for it. Then you can connect the Xbox via network cable. There shouldn't be any problem as your modem can take 2 connections by the sound of it.

It is the power brick. If you are under warranty you can have microsoft send you a new one for free, otherwise a new powerbrick is around 80 dollars.

Xbox360

Hello taz1028,

In order for you to be able to log into Xbox Live, you will need to have DSL or Broad Band internet connect in your home. Once you have that, you will be able to connect the Xbox 360 directly to the Modem that the internet provider gives you. If you wish to able to connect both the Xbox and your notebook to the modem you will then need a router or a wireless router. So, if you do not have DSL or Broad Band Internet service in your home, you will not be able to log into Xbox Live.

Sincerely,

Agent Xiong

Xbox to compter

Path #1:

if you want to play online, with other people i am assuming? then what you would want is xbox live. you do have to setup a stable internet connection in order to connect to the internet*. and also you do have to pay a membership fee in order to stay in xbox live.

* and if you want to connect xbox live, you need a cable or dsl connection, either you need an ethernet cable or a pre-tuned wireless usb that is made only for the xbox 360. and also, you would need a cable/dsl company that is accepted by xbox live. and then go to the xbox 360 dashboard, then, click "join membership",

Path #2:

setup an ethernet connection either directly, or with a router/hub, then go the system settings, and click, "computers" and then click connect. but this path way is only to create a connection to the computer.
