Same problem here too. I've found that the real problem is oil gets inside the enclosed area where the rod attaches to the kettle. It solidifies as it gets cold. You have to remove the kettle top (3 screws on top and 2 screws in the handle) then use a METRIC allen wrench to loosen the top collar on the rod, slide the rod down and clean the shaft with GOO OFF or other degreaser until it feels smooth and not sticky to the touch. Then put it back together.

Similar problem. Before I even put corn in the kettle, I leave the kettle heater unplugged and just hit the gear button but the metal rod with gear on the kettle keeps popping out almost as if there should be something holding it tighter to the gear. When I place my hand against the rod putting pressure on the rod, the gears work and the thing spins in the kettle. If I'm not holding or putting pressure, the gear just clicks and pops out of the other gear. I've taken everything apart to the last screw, cleaned, scrubbed and oiled etc so there should be no clogging.

Popcorn popper is approximately three weeks old and now the popcorn clogs up in the hopper (cooker pot), the gear quits turning, and we have to pry the popcorn out. It worked perfectly when we first got it and now it is nothing but a pain to use. We tried several popcorns, cooking oils and amounts of oils, but the problem continues. I noticed the small spring located on the lower shaft doesn't cover the entire shaft. Is it supposed to be longer? Your prompt reply for a solution would be greatly appreciated or we will have to return the unit to our local retailer where we purchased it.

I disassembled the kettle, stretched the spring to put downward pressure on the stirrer, put it back together and it is like a new unit. Works perfectly. Just made two batches of popcorn and didn't have to un-jam the kettle either time. Great solution!

Why is it taking a long time to start popping, not popping completely, and leaving excess oil?

Sounds like the kettle isn't getting hot enough. The thermostat is usually at fault in this situation which can be determined by checking the amp draw on the kettle. the common complaint is the kette is too hot and burning but what really is going on is it's not hot enough so the seed won't pop. Because of the heat that is there it will loose it's moisture, dry out and burn instead. You will end up with lots of old maids . Really stale corn seed will act the same way because all the moisture in it is gone and thats what is needed to pop it.

My popcorn maker won't spin the kernels. I think it's the stir rod?

There are many possible problems that will cause your agitator to not spin, But you said the gear in the cabinet comes off easily, it should not.
There is a flat part of the motor shaft that extends thru the top of the cabinet that the gear should be tightened onto with an allen wrench via a set screw. This is the first place to check. When the motor is on, you should not be able to stop that cabinet gear from turning. (not easily anyway).

How to install a stir rod in a Gold Medal Product, Deluxe Pinto Pop, model 2147

Take the kettle crossbar assy off the kettle and look and see if there is a set collar above the shaft weight. If so loosen it so you can slide the weight up...enough to get the old one out and the new one in.

When turning agitator on it gets jammed in the spur gear.

This is a hard symptom to troubleshoot, it can have many different causes.
1. Is the stire wire in the kettle straight and spinning freely?
2. Does the agitator shaft spin freely in the crossbar?
3. Is there a small needle bearing on top of the spur gear attached to the kettle? it is a small metal circle that spins independently of the agitator shaft located ontop of the kettle spur gear, it can fall off.
4. The plastic block in the cabinet roof that has the motor spur gear coming out of it, is it cracked?
5. Does the motor turn when the switch is turned on with the kettle in the dump position?

All of these can lead to an answer of why the agitator stops turning while popping.

Popcorn machine model tpc-603 manual

Treat Time Model TPC-603

Turn on light and popcorn buttons, for 2 minutes to heat up the popper's kettle.

Then turn off the popcorn button, this stops the turning gears while loading oil and popping corn.

Warning the stainless steel kettle will be hot. Might want to wear an oven mitt.
1 tablespoon of oil (I use coconut oil) and 1/3 cup of popping corn. This makes est. 6 to 8 cups of popcorn.

NOW turn on the popcorn button so the gears start turning, this turns a wire on the bottom inside the kettle to keep the kernels from sticking or burning to the bottom.

If making multi batches, during the process it states in the manual to allow it to cool 5 to 10 minutes. I normally pop 3 to 4 batches and then let it cool down.

When finished popping, turn off both the light and popcorn buttons.

I DO NOT HAVE COOKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MY KPM-508 POPCORN POPPER

The instructions say make sure kettle motor is plugged in. Turn unit ON with switch on crown of machine. Allow unit to run for 3-5 minutes to heat up kettle. Turn unit off. Add 2 teaspoons of your favorite popcorn cooking oil to the kettle. Then add 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels to the kettle. Turn the unit on and close the door. When popping sound slows down turn the unit OFF. Flip the kettle over with the crank handle to empty the kettle. Repeat process until desired amount of popcorn has been popped.

Ccp-509 popcorn kettle stop spinning when popcorn begins to pop. It won't pop out of the kettle.

Normally that is caused by too many kernels used. It pops too fast and jams up in the kettle. It could be a problem with the kettle though. Call 920-347-9122 for help with it.
