I use this for a business and have noticed ever since I changed to a new transfer ribbon, the bar codes print too dark, so much so that the bar code lines run together and the barcode will not scan. I have tried to adjust the printhead darkness which is set at 25.0, down then tell it to permanently change, but every time it prints a bar code, it resets to the 25.0 setting. How can I solve this problem?

Last option Resect to Factory Defult (this drop darkness to +10)
SOURCE: improper printing of barcodes
recalibrate the label length in the printer(hold feed and power up). from memory bar-one uses the label settings from windows, so go into printers and faxes under control panel and correct the label size

Keeping up with the Drivers is a very good idea, it will fix little problems that come along from time to time. Try resetting the printer defaults by entering the menu system and exiting, at piont of exit don't save permanently but cycle around to load defaults and exit. Go back in and set the printer up again, this time exit saving permanently.

You may have an element or two on the left side of the printhead that is worn out and not printing. The best way to see if elements are not working is to use the widest label you have and run the PAUSE test. Turn the printer off, press and hold the PAUSE key while you turn the printer on. Keep pressing for about 10 seconds and then you can let go. When the printer is finished starting up, a test pattern will print. Part of the pattern is a black box. Any elements that are not working will show as white vertical lines. The only way to correct is to replace the printhead.
Hope that helps !
