The only way to resolve this issue is to restore using iTunes. :)

How to restore iPod (ARTICLE NUMBER HT1339)
Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.

After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.

Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are: Restore Option

1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod. Restore Option

2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available. Restore Option

3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. Restore Option

4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.

If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.

A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started.

When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).

Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).

During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Locked screen

Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.

My ipod has a lock screen and I dont know the combination

There is a hold or lock switch on the side of the player - unlock it. See user's manual to get a visual on where this lock switch is.

If it is asking for a password and you don't have the password, you will have to do a Restore in iTunes to unlock it.

My ipod has been locked and i dont know the password

Ok so, your ipods locked up and you have no idea what 4 digit passcode is. So i know the default is 0000 if that fails, then there could be 999,999,999 combinations. if you dont wanna be sitting there all day trying different combinations then, plug your ipod into the pc YOU SET IT UP WITH FOR THE VERY 1ST TIME, the primary pc. if you no longer have access to this then you can do a full restore of ipod. hope this helped!

How do I Unlock Ipod screen if I forgot the 4 digit password?

The only way to get rid of the password is to do a "Factory Reset" which will delete everything on the iPod. You hook it up to the computer and then when you select the iPod in the "source" panel of iTunes, select the "Summary" tab. There should be a "Restore" button. Just follow the instructions that iTunes gives you. For more detail, Apple support has a page that has every little thing on it, but this should be enough to get you through it.

Try restoring the software back to factory settings using Itunes. This should erase the code.

How do I Unlock Ipod screen if I forgot the 4 digit password?

See these instructions for unlocking the iPod Screen Lock if you don't know the combination.

  1. You can connect it to the first computer it was every synced with (this should be your friend's computer?) Open iTunes, then disconnect the iPod. It should now be unlocked.
  2. If you can't do that, then you can restore the iPod to factory default settings. Note that this will erase all music and data from the iPod, along with the Screen Lock password.

How do I Unlock Ipod screen if I forgot the 4 digit password?

Well, to make a long story short, I finally unlocked my ipod after perilous hours of invalid guesses. What did I do? I have a habit of making obvious passwords-I simply goofed this time. I used the last four digits of my mother's cellphone number! Yes, yes, silly me silly me. However, I was quite relieved when I finally unlocked it. Thanks! =)
