Purchased a universal travel adapter. Can this be used in Cuba? Thank you for your help

What voltage and frequency does the device require you would be plugging in to the adapter ?
https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g147270-c104286/Cuba:Caribbean:Electricity.html
You need to check the voltage matches between the device and the power point as the adapter does not change the voltage or the frequency. Some devices may not work if the frequency is required to be the same. like timing devices may not keep time if the frequency is different.

Icom v-68 no transmit no recieve

Hi,

To help you resolve the issues with your radio, much more info is required. What frequencies are programmed in your unit, is it VHF or UHF, this is required before we can begin. Do you know if the radio has frequencies programmed in the set, if not, that would be the obvious reason why you are not able to use the set.

Be that as it may, i do have a solution, but bear in mind what I have stated re: info required.

Join yahoo group SPECIFIC to your radio Make/Model, the technicians there will require as much info from you as possible regarding your set, so than can give you the solution to the problem, plus you can download manuals, schematics and software and all this is completely FREE.

I hope I have been helpful.

Best regards,
Peter

Radio will not recieve

Hi Andy,
What you have is an amateur radio which requires a license to operate it.
Having said that, I don't know where you got the unit from, but obviously, the unit has had the frequencies deleted, so you cannot operate it until you go to a radio workshop to have the unit re-programmed.
You will only get receive(RX) frequencies programmed, no transmit(TX) frequencies. Sorry, but if you want to operate this unit, you will need to approach the Wireless Institute of Australia(WIA), who are responsible for licensing of radio amateur operators in Australia.
web:www.vk6wia.net for all the info re: licensing requirements.

Cheers,
Peter

Date and time appears scanner doesn't scan

Hi June,

Has the radio scanner been programmed with frequencies?

If not, that is the answer to your query.

All radio scanners need input to function as they should, no input, FREQUENCIES, no go.

If you have the user manual handy, it will guide you through the steps required to program frequencies into your scanner.

If you don't have the manual, then going to your local Radioshack store would be of benefit to obtain a copy.

You will also need a hard copy of frequency listings for your location.

these can be found by a simple google search.

I hope this has been useful to you.

Cheers,
Peter

What frequencies I can use vertex VX 400 U radio

Hi,

Not sure what frequencies are allocated in India for UHF ham, but may i direct you to the following: join yahoo group specific to your radio Make/Model, there you can get info and you can download manuals, schematics and other goodies.

I'm sure, but not 100%, that ham bands around the world have similar allocations on 70 cm band UHF, but as I stated, not 100% sure.

Best regards,
Peter

To RESET all programs Frequencies on my IC-H16 portable radio.

You can download and review the manual for the Icom IC-H16/U16/U2 HT here. This radio is an Amateur Radio Service transceiver, and will require an FCC license to transmit. No license is required to monitor or listen to the radio. Keep in mind, the Amateur Radio Service is NOT part of "CB" or "FRS" radio services - neither of which require a license to transmit.

When you read the manual, you'll quickly see that there is no "reset" function available. There are only 16 memory locations, so you can simply lock out channels you no longer wish to monitor or you may program any valid frequency in the range supported by the radio. Doing this, in combination with setting the squelch or tone will prevent the radio from opening a particular frequency(s) when the corresponding memory location is scanned.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I cant listen to the police

First, make sure that you have the correct frequency for your local police. You can find a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area by visiting:
www.Reference.com

Program the frequency or frequencies using the instructions in the scanner's operating manual. and you should be all set. If you need the manual, you can download and print it, at no cost, here:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC60XLT-1om.pdf

NOTE: If the frequency database shows that your local police are using a trunked system, you will not be able to monitor them using the BC60XLT-1. Trunked systems require a trunking scanner. Many law enforcement agencies are also using digital systems for their communications. If that's the case in your area you'll need a scanner capable of monitoring APCO-25 digital transmissions.

I have a Raymarine 240 VHF from the USA and I need to get it switched for Australian use (VHF Channels - Frequencies) ?

Hi Michael

From the owner's manual (Page 14) you need to press "menu", then select "Frequency Group", then you have the choice of USA, Canada or International channels:

Here's the link to your owner's manual should you require it:

Memphis codes

Most scanners require you to program frequencies manually before you can scann them. Your instruction manual will tell you how to do this.
