I cant transfer files from recorder to my pc

In the past I have been able to transfer files w/o problem but now I am unable to do so.  When I connect to the computer a window  opens which shows both the recorder and computer files and eveything looks normal as in the past. When I drag a file from the recorder to the computer it starts to transfer opening the transfer window but closes very quickly with no files being transferred.  I have tried everything I can think with no luck.  Hope someone can offer a solution.  I have re-installed the software as well.

5. Restart the computer.

"Found new hardware" will appear,
7. install automatically.
This may fail, if you see VNUSB device, skip the final steps and proceed to Digital Wave Player to Download files from the Digital Voice Recorder.
If you will see "Other devices" listed in Device manager with "digital voice recorder" underneath it.
8. Right click on the "digital voice recorder"
9. Select update driver from the pop up menu.
10. Choose the browse computer Option
11. In the next window browse to the location that you downloaded the Digital Wave Player application to
12. Click Next
A security warning window will open,
13. Choose "install anyway" and the device will install.
When successfully installed you will see the "other devices" disappear and a VNUSB device with a "VN series device"
underneath it appear at the bottom of the device manager list. There will be a blue question mark next to the device. At this point you can close the device manager and the properties window and open Digital Wave Player. You will see the recorder listed underneath the recorder folder and be able to download and use the program normally now.

How do I transfer recorded movies to a external hard drive?

That depends. What device did you use to record these movies? If you recorded a movie using a DVD recorder, connect your external hard drive to a PC device which has a DVD rom. Go into the files, copy and past the file to your external drive.

I cannot transfer the recording to my computer

Hi Catherine,

If you cannot transfer your recording to your computer this could be because of several issues :-

  1. Low disk space
  2. Camera not properly connected to your computer
  3. Incorrect method of copying files
The solution i would suggest to you is that :-

  1. First , please connect your computer in the data storage mode , using the cable that you get with your camcorder.
  2. Once connected , go to the directory where you would have all your files which have been recorded already.
  3. Select those files that you want to copy by pressing CTRL key and clicking on each file that you want to copy and press ctrl + C key.
  4. Then paste the file on your hardisk , you can create a folder on your desktop and put the files in it by using the paste command from the edit menu or by right clicking and choosing the paste option.

I recorded meeting minutes to my digital OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder and want to transfer the recording on it to my Dell Inspirion/1100 laptop. Could I transfer the audio from the headphone jack to...

Hello,

yes, it is possible. You will connect the earphone jack from your voice recorder to Mic of your laptop. Then you will be needing a wave software on your laptop, download the wave software from the internet, open the wave file, then press play on your voice recorder and the minutes will be recorded into your laptop as a wave files.

But the easiest method of tranferring the minutes is by using the usb cable of your OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder. If you don't have it you can purchase it, then connect it from your OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder to the usb of your computer and it will be read like a flash drive.

After that, go to my computer and you will see a drive representing the OLYMPUS VN-480 PC voice recorder, open the drive and you will see your minutes, then simply create a folder on your computer, and copy, paste the minutes into the created folder. And the would be all.

God luck.
