SOURCE: I have a Kenmore Elite
Hi.
There is need to test parts. Testing is done with power not connected and using a multimeter. Part of testing requires disassembling.
The problem is usually the door switch. Motor and heating do not start like if the door was open.
Check the door switch. The door switch is tested using a multimeter on switch contacts. The switch must close the circuit showing zero Ohms or little impedance when door is closed. The switch must show Ohms infinity only with door open. Another way to test the switch is by jumping its contacts.
If door switch is OK check belt and motor and thermal fuse.
The thermal fuse is located in the heating group, on top of the cover. The part is indicated with nr.39 in diagram below
The fuse is good if it shows low impedance at the multimeter. If the fuse is gone the multimeter will read infinity.
The belt and motor are reached removing the front panel. Details on disassembly procedure depend on the model number of the appliance.
You can find all diagrams and parts for the dryer entering the complete model number here.
Regards.
Ginko.
