Yes, I realize how inane that may have sounded, (Looked), but I approach a problem at all avenues.
However, I see one right off the bat listed at $65, and at a Buy It Now price.
(That is the way I buy anyway. Might pay more, dunno; BUT do have what I want, with NO auction involved)

Reasoning is, that there ARE still some REAL electronic tech's out there. Not just Parts Changers.
Usually in a small computer repair shop. Retiree's still doing what they love, but not for the man, anymore.
A half-a**sed computer tech could open that unit, and see what is used for a battery.
Upon then a solution for battery replacement could be arrived at.
(Yes, I censored the above, not the parser)
Since you indicate the company states the battery cannot be replaced, and new unit is over 4 grand; when the solution is arrived at, I don't know if I would 'shout it from the rooftops'.
Could be a copyright protecting it, and a law suit could result.

Most cases of that type have hidden screws under labels.
The labels are peeled, and screws looked for.
The case halves pop apart after that. (Or just come apart)
One case half may have TABS on it, that snap into LATCHES on the other case half.
Thinking is, just the same as a laptop case.
I use a thick stiff guitar pick to ease into the parting line, of the case halves.
(Can't get in. Move over a little. You may be at a Tab/Latch)
When there is enough of a 'crack' developed, then I would use a Spudger Tool,

I always advise against using a metal tool, but in this situation there may be no recourse.
Flat tipped screwdriver. Insert tip ONLY about the width, of the thickness of the case. That would be about 2mm, or 1/16th of an Inch. (About the width of this capital letter -> O <- )
Gently twist screwdriver to start spreading case apart.
Then move screwdriver tip along parting line a little, try again.
(Parting line; where case halves meet)
Keep moving along, being Respectful that components may be ->Close to outside edge of case.
Back case coming off of front case, my theory is button/s, LED readout, etc; will stay in front cover. (Case)
Then see what type of battery is used.
My luck it's made by Tibetan Monks in the Himalaya's. (?)
More than likely it is a type of watch battery.
CR2032, or perhaps similar. (Doubt it. That is a 3 Volt battery, but chu never know)
Are there any organizations to your knowledge, in your area/country, that may provide funds for purchasing a unit; off of Ebay?
