I'm trying to change my low beam bulb for my Benz E350, 2009. It seems to be next to impossible to get to the light from inside the hood. Is there a way to remove the headlight complete assembly, in order to access the back of the bulb compartment?

Right behind the headlight, in the engine compartment there is a black round plug, about 3 inches in diameter. Turn it counterclockwise and remove it. Just inside you will see/feel a small wiring harnes, wiggle it loose, then remove the bulb. Insert the new bulb, attach the wires, and the plastic cover. Here is a picture of what you're working with:

SOURCE: 99 cutlass supreme headlight bulb replacement

Look at the top of the headlight assembly. There is a plastic panel on top of the assembly that is held in place by two plastic pins. Remove those pins by lifting the center of the pin and then pull out the pin. Remove the panel. Then you will find two small plastic levers that will lift about 1/2 inch. They do not come out but they will release two studs that secure the assembly. After the assembly is released, slide it forward to access the bulbs you need to replace. Installation is the reverse of these procedures.

SOURCE: Difficulty changing low-beam headlight

Disconnect the connector.

  1. Remove the socket cover. CAUTION: Do not touch the surface of the bulb with hands or dirty gloves as the bulb may pop after a short time. If the surface does become dirty, clean it with alcohol or thinner, and let it dry thoroughly before installing.
  2. Release the bulb securing spring, and remove the bulb.
  3. Replace the bulb, and connect the connector securely

SOURCE: how to change bulb on drivers side low beam head light

My niece has a jimmy, they should be the same. The inside should be the high beam, the outside the low, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON NEW BULBS! Oil will cook on them and pop them! Both come off the same way. Take off the big rubber thing. They are soft but over hard plastic. Just pull them off. If you have trouble, you can flip the little wire clips that hold the headlight housing in place, this will give you room to see the rubber caps enough to figure them out better. The bulb assembly rotates CCW counter clockwise, and should slip out easily. Take the wires and plug off. it should be obvious how it pulls off. Snap the new bulb into the wires without touching the glass part. Gently replace in backwards order as you removed it. Put the rubber caps on, they keep water off the bulbs. It will break them!

The passenger side was harder for me. I had to take the air cleaner off, the whole cover and filter. You should be able to see or feel the same type caps, The low beam outside, High beam inside. The same 2 wire clips are there to release the housing. Everything pretty much goes the same, other than the air cleaner has to be removed and replaced. And make sure the rubber cap is replaced! Good Luck and good motoring!

Open hood and remove the radiator site shield and the air delector on top of the headlamp assembly. You will then see 2 clips that you will pull up and then remove the headlamp assembly.

How do I fix problem with my right side low beam headlight on 2007 jeep Liberty

Check the wiring on that light. Also check the bulb with a couple of wires to the battery, or swap the bulb left to right to make sure the new bulb is okay.

2001 Chevy Malibu's bright beams work, but low beams do not. Which fuses should I be looking at specifically?

Have you tried changing bulbs? Usually one low beam burns out and you really don't notice so when the second one burns out it looks like a serious problem. There is no fuse for the headlights if it's not the bulb the next thing to check is the dimmer switch. I hope this helps. Take care.

2004 jeep grand cherokee driverside head lamp- low beam bulb needs to be replaced. How is this task performed?

That does not look like a low beam lsamp. It looks like a parking and turn signal lamp. The low and high beams are together in the main top light. To change the parking light bulb open your hood and look behind the light system for a cover over the bulbs. That should be where you can yurn out a plastic fitting that houses the bulb.

How do i get to my low beams on my chrysler 2005 sebring sedan i got to the high beams perfect but the low beams right next to it has a metal barrier surrounding it which makes it impossible

Unfortunately, the answer I have is not a happy one =(. My wife has a 2005. In order to replace the bulb you will have to pull the Crutons (plastic push pins) that hold the front bumber cover on, remove the Headlight housing & replace the bulb that way. Shame on Chrysler for making it so difficult, in my opinion. But I hope this helps you to change the bulb =)

2007 pontiac grand prix headlights are not working correctly. High beams work but not low beam. nothing works on automatic. Low beam bulbs have been replaced. Lights worked for one day, then back to not...

I drive a 07 Grand Prix and the low beams randomly went out. Could not get them to come back on, but all of the other lights worked (inside, parking, and high beams). found a forum online that recommended replacing the fuse/thing at location #35 in the fuse box under the hood. It worked immediately!! Got the part at Advanced Auto parts for $35 dollars.

How do i replace the low beam headlamp on a 2008 mercedes?

Under the hood, there are two round head lamp covers on each side. One for high beam and one for low beams. The low beam is the outer cover. Turn this cover counter clockwise and remove. This will expose the back of the bulb. There is a small clip holding the bulb into the headlight housing, but you must unplug the light before removing clip. Once you have unplugged the light, the small metal clip can now be undone. on the side opposite the hinge, push the clip in towards the casing and then to one side (which way to push depends on which light it is.) Then the clip will release. you can now remove the bulb. place new bulb in and make sure it securely fits into position. reinstall the clip and reconnect the power. check for propeer function of the lamp before replaceing the cover. Once you confirm lamp is working replace cover and you are done.

This is easiest to see on the passanger side light. The driver side is slightly more cramped.

Driver's side low-beam headlight out

Purchase the correct bulb, open your hood, unscrew the white retaining ring behind the non working lamp when loose turn black connection 1/4 turn counter clockwise till tabs line up pull straight back remove old bulb put on rubber gloves or BE CAUTIOUS NOT TO TOUCH NEW BULB GLASS WITH BARE FINGERS. Oils from your hands an cause bulb to heat unevenly and cause new bulb to explode in the headlight assembly
So with gloved hands open new bulb insert follow steps in reverse to reassemble. Happy Motoring

LOW BEAM LIGHTS

Hi Rich Million,

Check the bulbs for the low beam problem and if they're ok, check the fuses under the bonnet (hood) which are found in the fuse box. If you've already checked those, go to the fuse box inside the vehicle.

Still no luck....remember that there are fuses and relays inside the cabin behind the kick panel.....You may find that there is a problem with the main fuse box.....If you drive over rough terrain, check the connections under the main fuse box....even if your roads are all smooth, it's still worth checking.....
