If the 97 doesn't have a dipstick where would you put the stick from the 96.

I put a 97 engine in my 96 cavalier and it will not start. it has power at the coil and injector pulse but no spark. I had to change the crank sensor from the 96 to the 97 engine because it had the 3 wire...

There are several thongs that could cause this. Have you checked the ignition module? The wore harnesses or ecu could be different. A number of sensors on the new engine could be bad or incorrect.

When driving 35 mph + the front end seems to bump it feels like going over a bump in the road i dont think its the transmission because it does not happen when shifting it happens more when driving up hill...

Could be a tire out of round, or even a bad strut. Bounce the front end, if it's spring like, the strut (s) may be bad. Look for leaking of oil from them, that is a sign of a bad strut.

yes this will fit, model years 88-97 will fit. I would recommend the newest model you can get, as they improved internal hardware after 93. hopefully this helps

Is it true that in a 1996 chevy tahoe 4x4 u can't convert the transmission with another year model like the rest of the1997s. The dealer told me with the 96 4x4 has to be replace with another 96. but 97...

The key distinction of the Later 4L60-E (1997-2006) from the Early 4L60-E (1992-1997) or 4L60 (1990-1992) or 700R4 (1982-1989) is the six-bolt "hex" rear output or tail housing / adapter pattern. The previous versions featured a four-bolt square bolt pattern at the adapter or tail housing. This is where that made the small change and the 96/97 year was a change over year so you may have the newer housing or the older housing, but if your replacing the transfer case with the transmission your good to go, the electronics are the same. Just the body housing is different. Good luck and hope this helps. And why wold you want to convert the transmission, there are lots of easy simple up grades with out dropping the transmission or valve body.
