What IP address does your computer have? What address are you using to get to the router? Those addresses by default ought to be 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.1. If your router really reset, the usaername and password is "admin" and "password" without the quotes as the manual says.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".

Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.

To reset the router:

a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds.
b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

3. Configure the router.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a cable connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings under Setup tab.
b. Select No for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.

a. Click on Basic Settings.
b. Select Yes for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Select Other on the Internet Service Provider drop down box.
d. Enter your ISP's username (username@ISPdomain) and password. Then, click on Apply.

4. Configure the wireless settings.

a. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
b. Change the SSID to any unique name.
c. Scroll down, look for the Security Options settings and select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
d. Set the Authentication type to "Automatic" and the Encryption Strength to "64bit".
e. Leave the Passphrase field blank, select Key 1 and enter a 10-digit number.

Note: The 10-digit number you typed in the key 1 will be the password or network key for the wireless connection.

f. Click Apply button to save the changes.
g. Go to Router Status under Maintenance tab and check if there is an IP address under Internet port. If it's 0.0.0.0, do a power cycle.

5. Power cycle.

a. Power off the modem, router and computers.
b. Turn on the power of the modem first and wait for it to initialize, the lights to stop blinking.
c. Power back the router and the computers. Check if it will be able to get online.

I have a netgear readyNAS NV+ that i want to reset the password.

Whether you bought a used Netgear router or just forgot your own password, you can reset it and start over.

This is not an unusual problem, so Netgear has made resetting and restarting their routers a simple task

Connect all of your devices.
If your Netgear router is not already connected, it should be plugged in, with one Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer and a second Ethernet cable connecting it to your computer's modem.

Locate the reset button on the rear of your Netgear router.
The reset button is a small inset button and requires a pointed object to reach it.

Use a fine-tipped pen to hold the button down for at least 10 seconds.
The test light should flash during this process.

Open your Internet browser and enter the Netgear router's IP address into the address bar to access the router's information. Generally, Netgear routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1, but the specific IP address will be listed in the router's manual.

Attempt to log in to the router with the default username and password.
The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password."

If the router's username and password were not cleared away, unplug the router and try holding down the reset button.

While you are holding down the reset button, plug the router back in.
Log in to the router using the default "admin" username and "password" as the password.

You can now reset your information, rename your router and enter your own username and password.

Forgot username & password for netrouter wgr614v7

How do I log into my router?
To log into a NETGEAR router:
  1. In your Web browser, navigate to the router login page. By default, one or all of the following URLs should work:
    • http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com
    • http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1
Note: You can sometimes find the login URL on a sticker on the bottom or back of the router.

  2. Enter the username (admin) and the password.
    • The default password is password, or for older routers, 1234.
    • If you have already changed the default password, use the password you assigned the router. Passwords are case sensitive.
    • If you have already changed the password and do not remember it, you have to reset the router to factory defaults in order to use the default password. Resetting a router to factory defaults erases all changes you have made to the router's configuration files.

Hi,

There should be a reset button at the back of your Netgear router. Press it for 10-30 seconds and that should reset it back to factory settings.

Cheers!

Finding netgear password

Usually you have a reset button on your router. Maybe you need to insert a paperclip or something like that into a hole to get to reset button, and hold it for a few seconds.Once reset is done your router will reboot and all your settings will be erased, than you have to configure it again. first connect it to your PC with a network cable, than open a browser and type your routers IP into address bar and hit enter. A window will pop-up with a username and password.
Most of the NETGEAR devices, except ReadyNAS products and Fully Managed switches, have the following default username and password:
  • Username = admin
  • Password = password
    • For older devices, password = 1234

    Good luck!
