Acer E data Security PSD DRIVE

My Acer Aspire Laptop crashed, on atempting warranty i discovered that its motherboard has burnout. Luckly my local vendor arranged a compensation for me, But the problem is my important data.

I had recovered all the data from hardisk except the data stored in E data security. How can i access that data stored on that PSD DRIVE.

I discovered that PSD DRIVE is stored on my D drive with hidden folder name HI TRUST DRIVE and in a file eDS_PSD_drive.vmdf

Now how can i open this file to retrive my data

The HiTrustDrive holds Acers back-up data of your system, you should have made recovery discs from this when you first had the laptop. When making these discs you are asked to define a password, you will need the password to view the files, if you have forgotten it just boot to a linux live cd and you can view the password, it is stored in plain text on a hidden partition in the following file: /TOOLS/AIMDRS.DAT

That's not the answer Tony. I'm at the same situation right now as zeeshaniiu. I created PSD on D drive before and saved all my important files there then reformatting the C drive knowing that it will not affect my PSD because it is setup in my D drive. But after reinstalling my windows and tried to access it, it will only say that I have a previous PSD and all i can do is to overwrite it in order for me to access the PSD drive. So basically, it's gonna erase all my files and create a new PSD drive. Of course, I don't want that. Until now my PSD in D drive is still there and i'm still patiently waiting for the answer that will help me recover it. PSD (Personal Security Disk) drive is a secure drive in the computer (ACER to be specific). Upon setting it up for the first time, it will create a separate drive in which you can hide it and encrypt a password and there is an option in which drive you're gonna create it (D drive is the most common place where to place it because it will not be affected if you reformat the C drive. Unless you delete all the partitions upon reinstalling the OS). In our case, we placed it in D drive and you can identify it as "HiTRUSTDrive" folder, but if we try to open that folder, you'll see nothing. And, what you are trying to explain us is the recovery partition of the system. That is basically for recovering all the system files. If you run that recovery partition it will just restore your system back to factory defaults which is helpless. Thank you by the way for your concern. We do appreciate you for trying to help.

Hi.I have acer 5633 wlmi laptop. I had a lot of stuff stored in Acer PSD (personal secure disk) and it (windows vista) suddenly crashed. Now I have installed windows 7 and Acer e data security management...

All your stuff is stored on your D drive with hidden folder name HI TRUST DRIVE and in a file eDS_PSD_drive.vmdf. The HiTrustDrive holds Acers back-up data of your system, you should have made recovery discs from this when you first had the laptop. When making these discs you are asked to define a password, you will need the password to view the files, if you have forgotten it just boot to a linux live cd and you can view the password, it is stored in plain text on a hidden partition in the following file: /TOOLS/AIMDRS.DAT.

Just give it a try...

ON BOOT THE SYSTEM SAYS CHECK CABLE CONNECTION! PXE-M0F: EXITING INTEL PXE ROM NO BOOTABLE DEVICE

The hard drive isn't being recognized by the motherboard.

You could have a serious issue with the drive. If you have important data on the drive I would recommend having it checked out by a local repair tech.

If you don't then call Acer support to schedule a repair, hopefully it's still under warranty.

ACER PICTURE PROBLEM – MY SOLUTION

I had a similar problem, but I got a picture before it broke up and went off. The screen was backlit, but no video (screen was receiving some power).
The LCD needs a very stable voltage to work, this is provided through the LCD connector ribbon. In my case the ribbon was damaged and replaced it.
I have had no problem since.

I discovered this through trial and error; I first changed my transformer power supply and then the video inverter card.

You may find the link below helpful as it contains articles that photographically show you how to open the laptop for repairs.

Personal secure disk lost on my acer aspire m1640 how do i get it back?

I'm having problems too with PSD. The hidden drive becomes inaccessible. I've discovered that removing then re-installing the eDataSecurity, the PSD drive re-appears with all the data. See this site for the latest version of eDataSecurity.
http://www.egistec.com/oem-acer001/program-update.html

I haven't had much luck with Acer PSD. When I go to type in my password to unlock the PSD I get a message something like the software is no longer functioning (forgot the exact error msg).

Good luck.
