Is the adapter turned on? Is it getting signals from any other devices? If you need to replace it, it is a really quick and simple process.
Flip the device over and unscrew the cover over it and it will usually have 1 or 2 screws holding the card down. It will be identified by having 2 wires running to it. Unsnap the 2 wires noting how they are plugged into the card now. Take the card out and look at it for a manufacture part number. Buy a replacement card by using that number. Installation is the reverse of this process. No drivers to contend with as it will be the same card. and it will be simple plug and play operation. it should take no more than 5 minutes to remove and reinstall an new card.

Make sure your WIFI switch is turned on. Most recently made laptops have a switch to turn off and on the WIFI capabilities on the side of the laptop physically. If that's on I would return the laptop if its still under warranty.

I've spoken to who provides my wireless network and they insist that my Dell laptop is the problem for not being able to connect. I really dont know much about what they were saying but what they had...

If your using a router to get wireless from a DSL connection and your laptop isn't detecting the signal it is most commonly the wireless card in the computer, hence their response. If you can access the router to check what channel it is transmitting on you may be able to change that to resolve the issue. On my cisco router it transmitted on channel 6 by default and my laptops wouldn't detect it, I changed it to transmit on channel 5 and the laptops work fine. I assume they checked if your router was compatible with your computer so I won't go into the type G wireless vs Type B or N wireless. The uninstall/install process they recommended is not hard and shouldn't hurt anything if you do that. On Vista Open Control Panel->System->Device Manager then go down the list of devices to Network Devices and select your wireless adapter and right click, from that drop menu select uninstall and close everything and reboot the computer. When the computer starts up again it will automatically detect the wireless card and reinstall the drivers from the windows system copy. Make sure the wireless device is actually manually turned on before doing any of these steps. Once the device is installed again you should be able to detect the wireless signal from the router they supplied. If not there is one more place to look in the router itself unless you are familiar with router settings I don't recommend you do these though. If you still don't detect the router signal call your supplier back and have them go through the router connections with you and when they say it's your computer you can tell them it works fine with others and you removed and installed the device as they advised and the fault is in their router.

ADAPTER not working

Check the distance bet computer and the Router.
Donot keep your router near television, microwaveoven or any radio active devces, it may reduce the performance.
Check the Antena terminals for any loose connections.
If possible check your wireless signal strength with another Laptop, to diagnose the router is working fine.
If everything seems to be fine, it maybe the issue with the Adapter.

I have a new laptop with wireless at home. How do I set up the wireless connection from my zonet router? Victor

By default, wireless routers always broadcast wifi signal. The only thing you need to do is to enable the wifi radio receiver of your laptop. To do it, make sure that you have the wifi LED lit in your laptop which means that your wifi receiver is ON. Now, you need to connect your modem to your router so that your router will then broadcast internet signal. Then you are good to go. Your laptop should get connected automatically and receive internet signal.

If you want to configure your router, visit http://192.168.1.1 when you are connected to the network so that you can change some of your router's behavior.

Wireless driver can not read my wireless router

If you're having trouble with a router, it most likely has nothing to do with your laptop at all. If there is a problem with your laptop's wireless adapter, you may be able to find updated wireless drivers through the laptop manufacturer.

Please keep in mind that a wireless router and wireless adapter are completely different. The router is external and relays the signal from your modem (the internet) to your connected PCs. The adapter is in your laptop and sends/receives information from wireless routers such as yours.

Disconnects while working.

it may be as simple as the wireless connection signal strength, as doors, solid walls or any solid object that is in it's line will cause the signal to be very low, and at that point it will disconect from the internet as it is unable to send packets of information to your wireless card from the router. You can try your router in another telephone point that is nearer the pc to see if the connection drops, or use a different channel number which can be changed in the routers settings and the wireless cards properties as interference from other electrical appliances on the MHZ level can cause signal loss. Laptops tend to suffer less with the signal loss because they normally have a signal booster in the screen of the laptop within the wireless receiver ariel.

No signal from router after closing laptop

Is it definately the router that's your problem, because most laptops are able to turn off the wireless connection especially when powered by battery alone to conserve power, so check the settings in your laptops wireless adapters properties.
