GARAGE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES ON OWN LT BLINKS SEVERAL TIMES

AFTER A RECENT STORM MY CRAFTSMAN DOOR OPENER (OLDER 1986 MODEL) STARTED TO OPEN AND CLOSE ON ITS OWN WHEN I WENT OUT AND TRIED THE REMOTE AND THE WALL PAD THE MOTOR BUZZED AND THE LIGHT BLINKED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE DOOR DIDN'T RESPOND. I FINALLY GOT THE DOOR DOWN AND POWERED OFF. THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOES NOT SAY WHAT THE BLINKING LIGHT SIGNALS. I'M AFRAID IF I TURN IT BACK ON IT WILL BE DOING THE SAME THING OR IT WONT CLOSE. HELP. THANKS AG56

Anytime a door opens and/or closes by itself I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

This can also interfere with remote controls

Have a Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener (HBW0777 year 1994). It won't close and goes back while blinking 8 or 9 times. Transmitting sensor (red light) is blinking 3 times (even i hold the two sensor...

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. If the transmitting sensor light is blinking it is bad.

Older model 1/3 hp craftsman goes up not down with remote

Your door sensors are either bad or need simply to be aligned. They must be pointed at one another to work properly. Each of them has a small light that will be lit when they are pointed correctly.

Have to hold the push button inside my garage to close garage.

You have a door sensor problem. Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking. Also check the wiring.

I have a craftsman garage door opener (1/2 hp) won't close proper

Check your door sensors. They have probably been bumped. Tweak them until they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

Craftsman garage door opener trips the GFCI

When garage doors get sticky, bent, and the chain needs lube they will trip the controls. A door may suddenly reverse for no apparent reason, that is friction. A GFCI is real sensitive to load. Also check the wiring to the unit. Any bad connection will upset the GFCI. Check all the way back to the breaker box, sometimes the screws on the wires need to be tightened.

Garage door opener.Working off and on. Green light blinking

Check the alignment of the safety light beams near the floor on each side of the door. They are not properly aimed and the safety reverse feature will not allow the door to close properly.

Changed gear box in craftsman garage door opener

you did not give enough info. If it closes completely and right away goes up, if bulb blinking. if it is, something on door is blocking safety beam. If light is not blinking, DECREASE down travel.

SEARS/CRAFTSMAN 53628SRT Not Closing properly

sounds like the safety door sensors are at fault, also did you reprogram the remotes by pressing the smart button on the logic board, when the safety sensors are bad the door will reverse to open state.you can pully the rip cord to manualy close the door untill you solve the problem.
