Washer does not spin

We did a load of laundry and water drained but did not spin. I could not get the machine to run another load. When I took wet clothes out and pushed lid switch the agitator did work. I couldn't get the water to refill. I have taken the machine apart and all four dampening straps are broken. Could this cause the machine to become unbalanced and not spin? What else should I be considering? Thanks.

That wont cause it not to spin but it just jerks the tub around a bit stronger.you most likely have a bad clutch.you can take front panel off and see if your clutch is grabbing when you put it in spin.it is under the motor.

Towels come out soaking wet, too wet to put in dryer. When placed back in dryer, noticed the spin cyle runs slowly, never spinning fast. The drum itself isn't solid, but oscillates when spinning.

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
