Hi James
You need to replace the rubber gasket between the tank and the bow, that is where yoiur tank is leaking from..
Be sure to use a level when tightening down on the screws to keep the tank level

SOURCE: Leak at water supply entry into tank - Kohler Santa Rosa

Tighten the nut a quarter turn.  If that doesn't do it then shut off the water supply. Unscrew the nut and get you a new rubber washer to replace the old one.  If that doesn't do it, then go to the blue or orange box store and get you a new 12" stainless steel flex line for toilets.  Bring your old supply line in to correctly match up the size so you don't have to make 2 trips if you buy the wrong one.

SOURCE: Kohler santa rosa fills, shuts off, a little water leaks from tank, toilet refills and repeats the leakage into the drain.

There is a rubber seal at the bottom of the flush valve that covers the openning at the bottom of the tank. If this rubber seal has perished slightly then it will leak water into the toilet bowl. This rubber seal need to be replaced to form a proper seal to prevent water leak.

SOURCE: kohler one piece toilet. it is leaking around the bottom of the toilet but if I put the water in the back of the tank myself, it doesn't leak

if its leaking from bottom of toilet on the floor. its the wax ring that may be bad, if it does this when flushing it is either cracked or the wax ring under toilet is bad.

How to remove large gasket from Kohler toilet that leaks

You will need to remove the tank by locating the long screws on each side of the water outflow outlet. Take those bolts out and then you can lift the tank up and thus you will access to the large gasket.

Refill valve

This happens when the seal on the flood tube is leaking and there is an imperceptible leak into the bowl.

The toilet keeps running. I tried adjusting the float, I dont know what to do.

You will probably need to change the entire valve. Get a new valve that has a built in float and you can take all those old faulty parts out. Turn the water valve off under the stool, flush the stool once maybe twice to get all the water out of the tank. Have a big towel ready, because when you take the valve loose from the stool you will have a little water escape out the hole. The nut that holds the valve to the tank is under the tank. You will also have to take the supply water line loose from the valve.. You should probably go ahead and change the rubber flapper , which is located in the center of the inside of the tank. A new valve and flapper can be purchased at any hardware store.

How to stop a continuing slight bit of water entering the bowl. A plumber put a new unit in the tank about 3 month ago, but I do not think he put a new flapper.

Sounds like you need a new flapper. You can do this yourself. Just turn the water valve off down below the stool, flush the stool to get all the water out of the tank as possible, take the top of the tank off, reach down and disconnect the flapper. It is located in the center at the bottom of the tank. You can get a new one at Home Depot, wal mart , Lowes or any hardware store.
