Rhythmic thumping noise with increased speed

Brand new treadmill, just set it up. When you increase the speed greater at 1.5mph, you hear a thumping noise towards the back of the treadmill, very rhythmic in sound, similar to sound of a heartbeat just louder. treadmill has been calibrated and passed, but sound remains and if you increase speed higher, sound remains just occurs more often but carries same rhythm.

The problem is the rear roller has a bad bearing and needs to be replaced

  • medalwinner Dec 13, 2010

Not correct, they all make this sound (we have installed hundred's). The belt is brand new, just use the unit, by hour 50 it will be gone. Do NOT tighten the belt to reduce the noise, it will prematurely burn up the motor.

I have this problem! But the thump happens at the front even when the belt joint is on top.....happens as soon as you turn it on 4x per cycle. It can't be normal.....my other one didn't do it.

Hello. I hear a very loud thumping noise from the back of my 2014 Toyota Corolla as I slow down. I have taken it twice to the service station at the dealer and they hear the noise but cannot identify where...

Here are the only reason that can cause a thumping noise
  1. Wheel and Tire Problems
    • Wheels can become bent from striking objects, and tires can develop bulges from broken belts or wear. Both problems may cause a thumping noise. Thumping sounds caused by wheel and tire problems will typically increase in frequency at higher speeds, though the sound may not be heard at lower speeds. These problems can often be spotted by visual inspection.
    Suspension Problems
    • Worn or broken struts or strut mounts can create a thumping noise, especially when the vehicle hits a bump in the roadway. To test struts, bounce the rear of the car by forcefully pushing down on it and letting go. After letting go, the car should settle back to its original position without bouncing or noise.
    Loose Trim
    • Loose trim pieces near or in the wheel well can flutter in the wind while a car is being driven. These trim pieces may create a thumping noise as they strike other objects. A car owner can check trim pieces for looseness to determine if that is the source of the noise.
Hope this helps

Thumping from motor reebok treadmill

Seem like your front roller bearings are knocking. Remove the drive belt. Turn machine on. Replace roller if noise goes away with drive belt off.

What is the cause of continual thumping (appears to be coming from back of car) and violently shaking?

Many times, rear tires that are out of round or severely cupped or feathered, or that are out of balance can create this type of issue. My first recommendation would be to have them and the wheels on the rear of the car inspected. There may not seem like there is much wrong visibly if you look at just the tread of the tires, but a good tire tech can spin them up and give you some solutions, and the inspection itself is inexpensive. Hope this helps.

My Epic 425 is getting louder and louder, a whirring noise, but can't seem to find maintenance help

Hi,

It sounds like you have a drive motoer failing. The only other place that can be load or making noise is the front and rear roller. The rollers bearings when failing make a "popping" or "clicking" noise, and increases as you speen up. The motor "growls", and the faster you go the noise is..... well loud. The way to confirm this is to remove the motor hood, then start the treadmill on power/speed level 3. Be very carefull, and use a broom stick (wooden) to put on the drive motor while it is running. You should be able to "feel" what you are hearing. You should then raise the speed, and you will then feel the increase as well.

The replacement motor is around $200.00.

Hope this helps

Left front thumps when driving down the road at any speed and when I take a left the noise increases especially if I drive over a pot hole. Sounds like the front tire is about to break through the fender...

The sound you hear sounds like a main wheel bearing.Because it increases when you make a left it is 100% on that side.I would start there and check the other components as you go. Good Luck

My ProForm 750 only runs at low speed. Varying

If u r seeing the increasing variation takeing effect on the panel but the speed does not increase in real, then there is nothing wrong with the push button for sure.
what it could be is ,
1. Your motor is getting overheat quickly and does not accept the higher speed commands.
2. it could be a belt slip also (do u hear any extra noice / vibration when u increase speed)
3. next time, pls unplugg the unit for atleast 4 hrs and when u start after that increse the speed very next moment and see if it works. if it does increase this way then it is time take look first on the belt ans then check the motor.

Good luck.
