How do I disassemble a GE radiant cooktop model JP350 to replace the burner switch

Sounds like you need to replace the burner control (part # WB23K5053)

Call the service tech it;s under warranty and, this model is notorious for this fault

Test the switch for continuity, if it tests open then replace it however, replacing both of them is always a better option. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: I have a GE 36" Profile Gas Cooktop JGP963 and when i light one of the burners, it trips the GFCI , main breaker and a little fire ball comes from under the knob. what could cause this?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE IGNITER. YOUR COOKTOP SHOULD BE ON A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND NOT A GFCI. YOU MIGHT HAVE TWO CIRCUITS TIED INTO THE SAME RUN. POPPING THE GFCI AND THE MAIN BREAKER IS SUSPECT. THE GFCI SHOULD SHUT DOWN THE CIRCUIT WITHOUT POPPING THE MAIN. THIS IS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT BY AND ELECTRITION.
