I have a GE model JP350 cooktop and the main burner works on low but when you move it to the high setting the breaker trips. I have removed the cooktop but not sure how to open up the unit to check the burner and switch. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to replace the burner control (part # WB23K5053)

Call the service tech it;s under warranty and, this model is notorious for this fault

Hi Test the switch for continuity, if it tests open then
replace it however, replacing both of them is always a better option. Hope this
helps...please post back for further assistance. Daniel
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE IGNITER. YOUR COOKTOP SHOULD BE ON A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND NOT A GFCI. YOU MIGHT HAVE TWO CIRCUITS TIED INTO THE SAME RUN. POPPING THE GFCI AND THE MAIN BREAKER IS SUSPECT. THE GFCI SHOULD SHUT DOWN THE CIRCUIT WITHOUT POPPING THE MAIN. THIS IS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT BY AND ELECTRITION.
