Samsung SyncMaster 731B Monitor blinks on and off.

This has happened to me before. Usually i just let it "warm up" and after a few minutes the monitor finally turned on for good. But now it's not working anymore. The blue led of the power button keeps blinking on and off. I can see the image for a milisecond before it turns off then on again.

It sounds like you have bad capacitors on the power supply board. The capacitors in the power supply filter the power, when they fail the power supply can not maintain operation. The blinking is caused by the power supply starting up, shutting down and restarting again. The monitor is repairable, you will need to replace the capacitors on the power supply board. 8 capacitors will need to be swapped out. Here is a link to a repair kit with the correct parts.

SOURCE: monitor to black, power LED blinks, hard re-boot and it works

Take a look at your power saving settings. It sounds like the monitor is set to sleep after 20 or 30 minutes. You may want to change your setting to "never". The settings are under Control Panel - Power management

SOURCE: Monitor not wrking

Sounds like you may have had a power surge.??
Disconnect power and signal input.
Turn the unit off for 20 minutes or so. Check the outlet against another device. ( Light )
Turn unit on without connection to PC video.
If you get a no signal, you good to go . Reconnect. If you continue to get a flashing light on power button,
Check warranty, get it back to Samsung for repair.
Hope this has helped

SOURCE: Syncmaster paower button blinking and no display

First of all plug another monitor to the VC on your PC and do the same for the SamSung"I over heat"SyncMaster2 053BW.
Oct 23, 2009 - This is how it went for me..I have a Samsung SYNCMASTER2.gif 2053BW. I leave my monitor on and let it hybernate when I shut down PC. I'm 3 months outside of my warranty. Two weeks ago something started happening. I boot PC and video doesn't come up for 10 minutes, and when it came up it worked perfect. VC/Monitor/MB?? It became 20 minutes and ...now..I have the analog/digital box in top left screen, power light on monitor flashing, no menu available on monitor and none of the other buttons work for anything. I test the monitor on Laptop..nothing(same as above)..I break out the old(working) monitor from deep within the closet. Plug it in and I'm up and running. So...

HOW TO OPEN A SYNCMASTER 2053BW

NO SCREWS!!! Assuming that the stand mount has been pulled out..The seam around the screen frame is where you start. The frame has the prongs, the back cover has what the prongs slip over. The frame is coming off first! I got the side to open by finger, then used a small standard screwdriver to pry ever so gently(lifting frame from rearcover). Leave the power button assembly on the frame, pull wire only a little to relax any tension..you get about 3/4" in extra taped to panel. The hard part is done.;) Still holding the frame...Now lift the panel (where the power button assembly wiring goes under panel) with the power housing that is under it as a whole and you will see where the powerbuttonassemble detaches.Remove frame. Now..holding edges of panel into back cover, lift and flip the whole thing over and place panel face down on a perfectly flat surface..a towel on my desk works. Lift and remove back cover.Your now looking at the back of the board housing. The ribon is simple, on the panel end of the ribon, squeez the outer clips together and slide it away against the panel..The secondary tin plate is removable, two clips super close to where the sets of wires come around the housing and into the panel.Unhook the 4 plugs(pink inside/blue outside)...Now lift the power housing off of the panel. The big board has the power. One screw to remove a ground plate first. Two screws to remove power board. Pics from phone.56ec44b.jpg

Reassemble but DO NOT re-snap the frame into place....yet... Test it! There is a reason the caps got hot in the first place, therfore it has a good chance of happening again. This is not fullproof...but.....mine has been on now for close to 6 hours with no glitches whatsoever. So I have resnapped mine back together. I hope you can too. - I must also add that this is one of the best producing monitors I have ever seen...in 60hz. The clarity is top notch. If you purchase one get the extended warranty. FYI...I paid $4.00 for those caps.

SOURCE: Samsung 932B Plus monitor does not turn on. Blinking LED

If you can open up the monitor from the back and get the cover off. Look on the power board and see if there are any puffy capacitors, most of the caps will have a silver flat top but if there are any bad ones, they will have a puffy top that stick up.

If you see any then make sure you replace them with capacitors of the same Uf rating and at least the same volts or more.

If you don't see any puffy caps then that means the screen is bad and the whole monitor would need to be replaced.

Testimonial: "Opened the LCD monitor up, and it was as he said. A bad capacitor. Thanks!! Replied within minutes."

Have a Samsung SyncMaster 731B (Black) 17 inch LCD Monitor. The screen is black other than a very very very faint glow of the box when pushing the setting and menu buttons. Any ideas?

Might be a case of the backlight giving up. If this is the case, you have two options, replace the backlight (expensive and pretty difficult to do a good job of) or replace the whole thing. I'd go with the second option, as LCD monitors are pretty cheap at the moment! Stick with Samsung SyncMasters though, they do good price monitors that are reasonably reliable too. Either that or a Dell monitor.

Thanks

Where can i get a screen bulb for a samsung syncmaster 731b?

I've had good results with the Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) tubes from Moniserv's parts site. In particular, check out the tech support page.

Blue power light blinks and the monitor will not come on.

Look for bad caps with bulging tops in the power supply first, report back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed SAMSUNG due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Screen flickering on and off.

I have the same problem with mine. I've kinda narrowed it down to it being the power supply in the monitor. was told it is about a $20 fix but we'll see

Screen comes up after 5 Minutes

Ok. this is a solution i gave another person that had a similar problem. hope it works for you.

1. Your images come on the screen after a few minutes yes? that means the cable from the monitor is working. no problem there.

So, when you screen "comes up" does it come up suddenly or does it gradually fade in from completely dark to bright? If it fades in, then the problem may be your monitor. if it comes up suddenly, the problem may either you monitor or you graphics card.

Try hooking up another monitor to the computer. If no problem occurs then the problem was definitely your monitor. If the same problem occurs, then the problem may lie in your graphics card.

If the problem is in your monitor, then you can simply replace it. If the problem is in your G-card, then you can replace that as well (assuming you graphics card is not build in). If it is built in, then you still get a new one (assuming you got an expansion port for it *most computers usually do*).

Tell me if this helps
