Epson fax will send but not receive

I can send faxes with no problem, but when someone tries to send me a fax they get the engaged signal. I have checked all my settings and I believe they are correct. I spoke to Epson technical support which was a waste of time because the person I spoke to would not believe the machine doesn't have a phone!

Ok, here's a check list for you.
SENDING

Check the following:

  • Make sure the phone cable is connected correctly and verify that the phone line works by connecting a phone to it.

  • Make sure that your recipient's fax machine is turned on and working.

  • If you connected the Epson Stylus CX to a DSL phone line, you must install a DSL filter to the line or you won't be able to fax. Contact your DSL provider for the necessary filter.

  • If your phone line has static or other noise problems, turn off the ECM (Error Correction Mode) setting and try faxing again.

Follow these steps to turn off the ECM setting:

    1. Press Setup.

    2. Select Fax Settings, then press OK. You see this screen:

    3. cp_display_141_er.gif

Can I fax using Magic Jack? This is a popular question. They do not support faxes, but the answer is yes. You may need to do some tweaking. However, not much tweaking. First, turn off error correction on your fax machine or program. Then, set the fax machine or program to use the slowest speed available. The slowest speed will ensure a fax goes through. You may increase later to find the highest speed at which a fax can be received.

Erase fax memory on epson workforce 3620

If you see an error message telling you that the product's fax memory is full, try these solutions:
  • If you set the product to save received faxes in the product's memory or inbox, delete any faxes you have already read.
  • If you set the product to save received faxes on a computer, turn on the selected computer. Once the faxes are saved on the computer, they are deleted from the product's memory.
  • If you set the product to save received faxes on a memory device, connect the selected memory device containing the save fax folder to the product. Once the faxes are saved on the memory device, they are deleted from the product's memory. Note:Make sure the memory device has enough available memory and is not write protected.
  • If the memory is full, try sending a monochrome fax using theDirect Sendfeature or sending your faxes in smaller batches.
  • If the product cannot print a received fax due to a product error, such as a paper jam, the memory full error may appear. Clear any product errors, then ask the sender to resend the fax.

I have a Epson all in one printer, scanner, fax etc. and when I try to send a fax I get busy report.

Try to send a test fax to HP's fax-back line:
1-888-HP FAX ME

You can send a blank page and if they receive it they'll send you a fax back confirming it.
If you can send to HP then whoever you tried to fax to earlier is having an issue or the number you have is wrong.

If you cannot send to HP then there's an issue with your line/machine.
You would then start troubleshooting by hooking up a phone to that jack you have your Epson plugged into and seeing if you get a dial tone.

My Brother MFC7340 Fax Machine will not send faxes it has a busy signal always and a busy signal when someone tries to fax me.

Hi,
You need to reset the memory, since previously you have dialed some number, which is not able to connect. So restart the printer. Unplug the printer for 10 minutes and plug back the power to the printer.

Hope this helps.

Can send fax but cannot receive fax. cannot copy

With your cell-phone, dial the telephone-number for the FAX interface.
Does your cell-phone "ring", or do you get an "intercept" ("this number is not in service") or do you get a "busy" signal?

Does the FAX "answer" after one ring? two rings? three rings? does it NOT answer?

Fax machine will send faxes but will not receive any

The normal problem with a fax that will not receive calls it the phone line.
The Line Voltage, or current may be low, or the signal ( DB loss) may be affecting it.
Let me give you an explaination. When you send, you physically connect to the phone line, make the dial tone and whatever is there, it goes out over the line.
When you receive a fax, it is like a remote control, with a remote you need good batteries to generate enough signal to turn on a product.
With a fax, you require an electrical signal, like a remote control to activate the receive capability. Low power, voltage or current. or static, will not allow it to receive, just like a remote with a bad battery will not turn on a product.
Issues can be. The phone cord between the fax and the jack. A bad jack, something on the outside line.
Using a digital phone line, or having another device on the same phone line drawing down the line, or picking up. A credit card machine, answering machine, even another phone can cause issues. If on a shared phone line, disconnect everthing but the fax and have someone send you a test fax. See if that helps.
But more than 90 percent of fax will send , will not receive issues are phone line related.

Brother Fax T78 wont 'ring'

Yes. try bypassing the router by plugging your phone directly into the phone jack, and have someone send you a test fax.
What happens it even now days, the majority of fax machines still use analogue phone lines, and the digital signal will mess them up, mostly because the digital lines have less power and current, and do not signal the recieve mode to switch on.
Very common occurance. Glad you mentioned the router or I would have sent you down a long winding path LOL.
You are suffering a low signal issue.
The reason you can call out is that you are manually activating the phone or fax when you remove the receiver. When you receive, it taked the proper signal strength to activate the fax modem.
