Battery Charge light flashing 4 red one green Dell Inspiron 9200

My battery stll charges and last about one hour but the charge light flashes red four times and green once.

  • Guillaumea Mar 24, 2009

The same problem is a occuring on my laptop. It has become like this after letting the battery running very low (I was away, laptop on, until it switched itself off). When pressing the test button at the back of the battery, 3 alternate green LED light up, not the 5 LEDs. How can we reset that? I have recharged the battery fully, rebooted laptop, but same flashing 4 red, 1 green on the battery logo.

Usually, its an indication that the battery is nearing the end of its useful life. you can try to use another battery to isolate it further. If the same thing happens with another battery, chances are, the mobo is failing. Flashing the BIOS can usually help with battery issues. If another battery works fine and your computer is within its first year since you bought it, you can request a replacement battery from Dell

Have dell d610 battery light flashes 4 times red then one green, can't unplug

I would take note of the message you are getting and buy a new battery. I believe the red flashing lights mean that one or more of the cells in the battery are dying, and it's best not to turn off alarm lights like these. Did the battery hold charge for a longer period than one hour before you started to see the flashing light warning?

I bought a second battery (standby as I am going to Africa) for my Inspiron, charged it for about 10 hours until it indicated it is full. However, the power light has been flashing red since. Even when I...

Flashing red indicates that the battery is non-functioning (at the end of its ability to hold a charge), although as it is a new battery, this would seem a bit odd.
Did you buy the battery new or 2nd hand, was it a genuine Dell battery? My suspicions are that if this is an aftermarket battery and one which was not compatible with the dell, then there might have been some damage done to the laptop, causing the old battery not to charge. I'm assuming you are using a genuine Dell charger

That is normal, to flash green during charging. Once charge is complete it should go solid green.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that won't start. The battery light would flash orange 4 times then blue once, and then start over with the same sequence. Pulled the power board and fixed the solder joints on...

This is directly from the User Manual:
If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the Battery light operates as follows:
• Solid green: The battery is charging.
• Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.
If the computer is running on a battery, the light operates as follows:
• Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).
• Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.
• Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.

Continuous alternating one green and three flashing red battery

note.gif NOTE: Battery operating time (the time the battery can hold a charge) decreases over time. Depending on how often the battery is used and the conditions under which it is used, you may need to purchase a new battery during the life of your computer. Check the battery status light — If the battery status light flashes orange or is a steady orange the battery charge is low or depleted. Connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
If the battery status light flashes green and orange, the battery is too hot to charge. Shut down the computer, disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet, and then let the battery and computer cool to room temperature.
If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the battery may be defective. Contact Dell _I found this on : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd820/en/ug/index.htm Hope this helps and good luck. if i "fixed ya" please rate me. thanks-jmattes

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

my suggestion is that you allow the batteries to fully recharge(which only happens when the computer is fully off, when the battery is deep discharged.

that will take around 6 to 10 hours each..

Flashing red light

If the sequence is 4 red, green, 4 red, green and so on- that's a code that indicates your battery is failing and is only providing less than 25% of its normal charge capacity.

That would mean your battery is basically dying and will probably keep headed downhill in a hurry. You should probably go ahead and start looking at getting a replacement.
