Ghost librarary: deleted files still shown on media directory

While in PC Hard drive mode I deleted everything (intentionally) from my music library. So my "Music" library on the device should be empty, but when I go to it all the files are shown as still existing. When I try to play or delete them, though, it says I can't do either because the file cannot be accessed.

But when I go to the music folder by first going to "Files" there is nothing there. How do I erase the lingering files that cannot be accessed because they do not exits???

The problem is that the Archos stores library information separately from the actual files on the device and the library must be updated whenever the files are changed.
To manually update your library:  From the main screen on your Archos 605, choose the Settings menu from the bottom right corner and select "System".
If there is an "Update ARCLibrary" button available, then click that button and see if it updates your device.
If the button is not there, or does not work, then try temporarily switching the "UBS Preference" setting to 'Windows Media Device" and closing the Settings screen.  This should invoke the library update.  Once updated, you can switch back to PC Hard Drive Mode.

How to delete apps from itunes

1 - When viewing the apps on your iDevice in iTunes, you can check and uncheck apps from the Sync Apps list to add or remove them from your iDevice when you sync next. If there are apps listed that you know you'll never return to, you'll notice that there is no way to delete them from this list.

Moving the iTunes Music Files to a Different Hard Disk/Folder

If you are low on disk space in your iTunes folder then you can move these music files to another hard drive and keep your music library in tact without the need to create your music library again.

If you want to transfer your iTunes to an external USB hard drive, make sure that it is powered up and connected to your computer before opening iTunes.
Opened iTunes, click Edit and then Preferences. Click the Advanced tab.
Make sure the Keep iTunes Media folder organized checkbox is checked, and click Change.

Then select the location where you would like to move your files to. Click Select the Hard Drive and Folder or OK once you’re done.

The files will not move into their new positions by themselves –To do this – click File, Library and Organize Library. Check Consolidate Files.

When this process has been completed, go to the new location of your iTunes media and check the music files to see if they have migrated across correctly. Also play one or more tunes to test the music files.

The redundant iTunes music files can now be deleted from the original iTune location (C:\Documents and Settings\…..…\My Documents\My Music\iTunes). Delete everything from iTunes there except files titled iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml. These are still needed.

I want to remove existing music

You cannot delete existing mp3 files/directories directly from the player but it is possible from the computer. Connect your mp3 player to a PC using the USB cable. It should become visible as a mounted removable drive.

If you can't see it, go to settings -> system and switch the UMS mode at the bottom of the list so it can become visible.

You should be able to see the drive in windows explorer and on Windows, you may even be asked as the drive connects if you want to view files,

Simply go to the directory structure, click through to music and delete files/folders that you no longer want. You can copy over new files from wherever you store your music, too. It's the same connection/viewing process.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REINSTALL THE M.S.OFFICE FROM GHOST FILE IN HARD DISC.

If you are using "Norton Ghost" then it is similar to a standard backup/restore programme.
Open Ghost, select all of the files you require, if it is a programme that you want then you must include the Windows directory and System 32 directory as there are files the computer requires to register the programme again.
Usually Ghost is used to replace all of your data on the hard drive.
If you have additional files that you wish to keep, backup those files first, then you can add them to your recovered hard drive.
Hope this helps.

Putting Files on Your Player
  1. Plug in your official Visual Land mp3 player to your PC with the included USB cable.
  2. Locate your player on the PC by opening 'My Computer', it should show up as an extra drive. Open the player drive.
  3. Locate the directory where the files you want on the player are located on your PC, and open that folder.
  4. Click and hold on the desired file to transfer, and then "Drag" it over to the player's external drive folder, and unclick to 'drop' the file onto the player.
  5. Your Visual Land Player may support synching with Windows Media Player, but it is not guaranteed. Your Visual Land Player however will NOT support other synching software such as iTunes, MusicMatch, or any other programs. Simply use the process above to put files on your unit.
If your Songs Not Showing in Playlist
If your songs are not showing up in the playlist after updating it, try removing any subfolders within the MUSIC folder.

The V-Touch Player uses a directory structure for initial scan of usable files. Each mode goes to an appropriate default folder for its initial scan of playable files. Video files should be placed in the “VIDEO” folder. Audio files should be placed in the “AUDIO” folder. Image files should be placed in the “IMAGE” folder. If they are not placed in the appropriate folders, you will need to search through the player's directories to find them.

Iriver won't let me upload from CDs and transfer....

Best way to use the H10 20gb is by creating a directory on your hard drive with your desired mp3 format files. Use ripping and encoding software with your existing audio cds.
Connect the h10 to the PC via the UMS trick (see this website).

Using a file directory on your pc, drag and drop the mp3 files from your pc to the MUSIC file folder on the h10. Install and run the EASY10 playlist creator software on your pc to organize the new files on your iRiver player. Disconnect the USB connection and enjoy!
