What year motors, can I use to replace my blown 1996 305 vortec t.b.i.? I own a 1996 GMC 1500, sl, ext. cab. Does it have to be a vortec for my current computer to work properly? Will engine mounts, bell...

Untill recently GM didn't change much of anything as far as bolt paterns You could bolt up a 350 from 20 years ago to your transmission and motor mounts. But that is not really what your wanting to do. The question is do you have a "vortec" or is it TBI. The vortec motor says vortec all over it (they were pretty proud of it I guess) The earlier TBI motor, at first glace look just like the old carburetor versions until you take of the air cleaner and find a throttle body instead of a carburetor. The two are not interchangeable as to the electronics, they are way diffract.

CAN YOU PUT A 305 INTO AN S-10 THAT HAS A 4.3LITRE,WILL I NEED TO MODIFY MOUNTS AND BELL HOUSING

It will bolt up to the trany, I'm pretty sure, the bolt patern is the same. I don't know about the torque converter. But, I'm sure you're going to need to modify the mounts. There's barely enough room for that V-6 under the hood I can't imagine puting a V-8 in there, but I guess it's been done. What are going to use for a computer? You may run into all kinds of problems in the electrical part of it. Is the radiator going to be big enough to cool it? Exhaust? Good Luck.

The inside of my front rotor has been grinded down really bad. It look like the top of the wheel was tilted to the inside and just grinded everything, the caliper, in inside brake, but the outside pad was...

sounds like 1 of 2 things

1 bad wheel bearing
2 bad caliper sliders likely the caliper sliders are seized and will require some work remember to use antiseize when re assembling caliper especialy on sliders and bolts also remember to tighten the wheel nuts in a star patern not a circular patern as this will allow the wheel to mount the drive hub properly

Alternator

There are 2 bolts that hold the alternator in position. One bolt is near the top of the alternator, the other is near the bottom. The bottom bolt threads through the end of the ADJUSTMENT bolt (which is at a 90 degree angle to this mounting bolt, and faces threaded end w/ adjustment nut to alternator). Loosen 2 mounting bolts, adjust tension at adjustment nut (near alternator), tighten 2 mounting bolts (upper bolt 33 ft lbs, Lower mounting bolt 18 ft lbs). countrycurt0
