Does my television have a digital tuner?

HI. Unfortunately, this model is equipped with a Analog Tv tuner(NTSC - M)

You will need a stand alone digital reception module to receive a proper digital signal with this unit.

In conclusion; Your current unit does not have an on-board digital Tv tuner module.

The remote for the hughes sd-dvr40 will only change the tv chanel even with the button on the remote in the sat. mode it will not change the sat. rec. chanels

I fixed it by reprograming the remote. This is how! Point the remote away from the DVR and press and hold the TV power button and the Directv button on the remote at the same time until the red light at the end of the remote comes on and stays on when you release the buttons. Then press the thumbs down button on the remote (3) three times and press enter on the remote. This corrected my problem which set the remote as a new remote. You will have to reporgam your TV code into the remote to operate the volume on your TV .

SHR-2082 RECORDING TIME ZONE FROZEN!

David,

try setting the time to something different (Like a day and hour from the current setting) than the current time and see if that come up if so then set the system to the current time and date and check again, if that solves your problem great if not reset your system and reprogram it.

•Factory Reset Hidden Key :
Mode Key + CH 2
•The Password and all setting
value will return to the initial
default value.
•Default Password is ‘4321’ .

Hughes SD DVR40 suddenly "reboots"

It's most likely your hard drive. If it happens at the same point in the recording, or if you can delete a program and then record something else and it does it again, it is hitting a bad spot on the hard drive. Your best option is to replace the hard drive and you should be good to go.

Hughes SD-DVR40 has video delays. the video stops every 5 seconds and when you press a button on the remote there is a delay for the response.

Video delays, running slow, and pixel glitches are indicators of Hard Disk Drive read and write errors. The shows you record are stored on a computer Hard Disk Drive within the DVR. If you have the original 40GB (35 hour) Western Digital Drive and it has never been replaced, it is a sure sign it is beginning to fail. You can either send it out and have it replaced or if you are electrically and mechanically inclined and want to try it yourself or have a computer genius living next door, the drive replacement is a simple process. You will need to obtain a pre loaded, pre initialized hard disk drive replacement for this Hughes DVR. You can purchase them online at www.weaknees.com. The smallest replacment is a 70 hour drive (80GB)They sell high quality pre configured Maxtor drives especially designed as replacements for DVR Drives. There are step by step instructions included with the drive. Any qualified electronics guru or computer tech should be able to replace the old drive with the new preconfiged drive. It is about a 30 minute job. Once installed and powered up the Receiver/DVR will act like it is a brand new receiver. You will have to call Directv to reauthorize your receiver again. If they ask, you can explain that you had a technician replace a faulty hard drive on your owned receiver and you need to reauthorize it. You will discover this when you power up with the new drive. The new drive should fix the delay problem. You will also need to set up your remote for your TV through the Remote setup menu again unless you remember the code (I can't). When you access the remote setup, the instructions will be displayed on the screen. Just scroll down to your brand of TV and input the different codes one at a time until you find one that works.
