Mfc-7420 Black Line horizontal across paper in 3 places
Everytime I print anything out of the brother mfc-7420 printer 3 black lines (nearly solid) appear on the every page that is printed. The position of the black lines varies from copy to copy.
I have been having the same problem, and ironically, my problem started when I changed the cartridge and cleaned the primary wire inside the drum by gently sliding the blue tab (as is suggested when you change the cartridge). I have made sure the blue tab is back in 'home' position (otherwise you can end up with vertical lines, which I have anyway!!). Interestingly, I have never done this before (and have changed the cartridge twice)....and never had these problems....??!! If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty. 1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling. 2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times. 3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position. 4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge. 5) Close the front cover. Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.
Hi
If a single inkjet in your printer is not functioning then output will appear as a horizontal line across the page. If one of the jets is on all of the time then output will have black or colored lines across the page. Use the following steps to isolate the problem:
- Replace the ink cartridge
- Check the flexible cabling for continuity and for short circuits between adjacent conductors
- Exchange the control board for a good one
- Finally check the power supply
Good Luck
I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".
This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.
are you using the autofeeder to feed your documents?
if yes, open the top cover and clean both glasses (big and small).
and take the drum out, move the blue panel to clean up your drum.
after that should be working fine.
yes you have to catch printer making the line and then as a page is being printed you need to open door to stop paper after green cylinder(drum) as it is entering fuser, then you need to remove paper from printer without pulling through the fuser, if you see the line then rub your finger across line up and down page, if it smears at all then its the cartridge if not then the fuser
There is most likely something on your scan glass that is blocking the scanner. Clean of both pieces of glass that are there when you flip open the ADF, or top cover. Try to copy again. If it is still there then there is either something on the scanner piece that moves back and forth to scan or one of your scan LEDs is burnt out and the scanner will have to be replaced.
