Error - 8 on Opticon PHL 2700

I use the Appload or Net032 utility to upload and download files from an old Opticon PHL 2700. I have set everything fine: Baudrate - Stopbits in both the terminal and the pc. However, when I try to download the file I get error - 8 on the screen. Any ideas?

Okay I've purchased a 40 inch tv today and how do I reset everything?

From the User Manual, page 35 (page 36 in the .pdf file):
Return your settings to default values When you return picture and sound settings to their default values the
channel installation settings are not affected.
1 Press MENU on the remote control and then use [the arrow buttons] to select [Setup] > [Installation] > [Reset AV settings] > [Start now].
2 Press OK to reset the picture and sound settings.
3 Press MENU to exit.
You can download a copy of the manual from 40pfl7705dv_f7_dfu_aen.pdf http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/4/40pfl7705dv_f7/40pfl7705dv_f7_dfu_aen.pdf

You may also want to look at "Update your TV software" on the following page of the manual. Updating is not always necessary, unless the update fixes something that bothers you or provides an improvement you want (if it isn't broken, don't fix it). As of this writing, there are two sets of fixes (copied from the "Firmware Upgrade Readme File" at Software & drivers):
Software history:

Version: Problems solved.

PHL-0DA_710_0 - Momentarily looses audio after channel change.

- Time shifts one hour when changing from "Auto Clock" to

"Manual".

- Enables Philips Wireless Media Connect.

PHL-0DA_713_0 - Clock does not keep accurate time.
You do not have to apply both updates; everything is included in the latest one.

Windows 7 cannot detecct my OPN-2001

It seems that this only has drivers for Windows XP, but you can try installing the XP drivers on windows 7.
http://old.opticon.com/uploads/Software/USB%20Drivers%20Installer.exe
Here is the link to download the drivers, make sure the scanner is not plugged in until after the drivers are installed. This may not work, but i have had to do this with other hardware and sometimes it does work.

I have an opticom telephone no manual how do i turn the answer machine on model num 112019

The previous reply is for Opticon with an 'N' not 'Opticom' with an M and a different company, so not very helpful. I haven't found an online copy of the manual so far.
1. Lift up the handset.
2. Press the STO button (for 'Store')
3. Key in the full number you want to store, e.g. 01234 5678910
4. Press STO again
5. Press one of the numbers on the key pad that you want to be the Quickdial number, from 1 to 0.
6. Press the MEM (Memory) button.
7. Replace the handset in its cradle.
8. The Quickdial number will now be stored and you can call it by lifting the handset (or pressing the speakerphone button) and then pressing the MEM button followed by the single number you chose, e.g. MEM then 3.

Opticon OPR-3201-USB computer does not recognize scanner.

get your manual and scan in the appropriate "host" option. You will have to scan in the "USB host" barcode. There may be more than one. Your scanner should be set to the HID usb Keyboard option. Or contact the Opticon Help Desk. You can download the manual at http://office.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/opticon/opticon_scanner_product_list.html

Sony NWZ-436F freezes when creating library

Old post I know, but i had a similar problem...
I think it has to do with the file types you upload - had the same issue, and through trial and error I finally noticed one album I uploading was an m4a format. When I would upload several files stepwise, making sure that the player starts after each upload, everything would be fine until I tried the m4a files - it would freeze on the creating library startup screen. This was for the same model as billybraga. Annoying.

Compaq armada e500 850mhz p3 laptop

I'd like you to get into your bios. At the main bios window make sure your bios is seeing the hard drive correctly (model number). Also check that your cdrom is listed. While in the Bios go to boot & correct the boot order. 1st should be cdrom, 2nd should be your new Hitachi.
You mentioned you connected it to a PC. Than you installed WinXP & everything went fine. Disk read error means your laptop does not like the FAT. When you bought the Hitachi did you get a disk utility? If not download it from the link provided here & test your drive. Use the disk utility to set up your new drive & format
it with the utility. Try again to boot to your cdrom & install WinXP. If your XP does not include SP1 or SP2 your drive may show a smaller size.
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
Good luck, I hope the disk utility fixs the problem.
