Color is fine when watching regular TV but when we play some (not all) rented DVDs we get horizontal stripes that distort the overall color in the picture (stripes aren't certain colors but tend to make those strips more pink or more green). What causes this -- the TV, the DVD, or something else? How do we correct the problem? Thanks very much!
Check your cables first to see if they are causing it. Faulty cables can cause all sorts of problems. If that doesn't solve it it could either be that the colour settings are wrong, for example NTSC instead of PAL or vice versa. Sometimes it is something to do with copy protection. In some cases counterfeit discs, or faulty discs. And in some cases a fault on the DVD player.

This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy. If bought online or cannot be returned, then, contact Sony, for a service center in your location: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do Either way the set is to new to have a problem and you should get it resolved as soon as possible.
