Hi,
Please check the speed in MHZ of old RAM and New 1GB RAM.
Some times if speed wont match this problem occur.
Remove old RAMs and add only 1GB RAM and start the system.

you must trying re partition ur hdd with 3rd software like Ranish partition or partition magic, or you can try with fdisk from microsoft DOS with cd booting before you try to installed it with another system operation like win XP or win 2000

Vista Install Issue

This link has at the bottom of the page a bootable cd .iso to download.Burn this iso on cd and boot from it. or download GParted bootable ISO download and burn on cd and boot from there. Its like running FDISK on steroids.
You should configure sata in the bios boot options etc.

PC not recognising the slave drive

Assuming you set it as slave or cable select as required by the motherboard, you have to first get the bios to recognise it press F2 or Del on boot up to enter cmos and then there should be an option to auto detect drives, save settings for a re boot. When in windows, right click on my computer icon and select manage>disk management and then your drives will be listed, right click on the slave drive and select format or set as active and it will then show, but only 137GB may show depending on the bios version.
